The Wonderbolts! – 10:1 | Rock Album

The Wonderbolts! Clockwise from bottom left: Whimsy, Captain Thrack, Musket, BlueBrony, Skribbles, theoneGalen, Mongo / Pappa Pie

The Wonderbolts! are a band like no other. For more than 10 years, this 7-headed group has been making heavy rock and blues pony music. They also make a splash at conventions, where other artists regularly join them. At the beginning of the year, they finally released an album with their greatest songs (which is nearly all of them). Keep reading for a quick overview of the track list!

  • The album kicks off with the mysterious-sounding Unite (Sunny’s Song).
  • Stare Master is a badass anthem for Fluttershy and her confrontation with the cockatrice in the Everfree.
  • What You See Is What You Get is pure, self-righteous Applejack energy; the final track on the album (not on Bandcamp, sadly) is an extended live version with awesome crowd participation.
  • Apples To The Core is a cover of the show song with delicious folk/Celtic vibes.
  • The third Applejack song is When The Work Is Done, which rocks that quintessential easy-living country vibe.
  • Best Young Flyer tells the tale of the Sonic Rainboom: Rainbow Dash’s anxiety, Rarity’s hubris, and the legendary save.
  • On Hi, New Friend!, Izzy’s cheerful optimism is channeled by Whimsy’s vocals.
  • Pink And Yellow is another Fluttershy song, which exposes both her sensitive and courageous sides.
  • Punch Drunk is a blues track about Berry Punch and her drinking issues, which starts off slow but works its way up to a chaotic climax.
  • Love And Tolerance Is Dead gives an introspective critique about the brony fandom’s slogan and its practical usage, courtesy of Wootmaster.
  • The spooky Nightmare is a Nightmare Night-themed song which was initially released on Ponies At Dawn: Pandemonium.
  • The final song is Pig > Fascist: while not a pony song, it’s galvanzing like nothing else and an instant anarchist punk rock classic.
