Do you want to know when an artist is at the best of their game? Hearing music made just how they envisioned it, making that dream a reality. After years of honing her craft, Tw3Lv3 proudly presents the fruits of her hard work in this album. In essence, the music she feels and breathes is here within these tracks. Music that makes you think you are having a chill time with ponies like Tree Hugger and Fluttershy in a café on a cozy afternoon. As Tw3Lv3 had stated, the music she listens to relaxes, and the music she feels is in these tracks to give you those chill vibes. Haze Garden is the right blend of lo-fi and drum & bass mixing with perfection! This album is a testament to how good she has become! Let’s take a listen.
An underrated treasure from last month, Childlike Wonder mixes a lo-fi, and at times jazzy, backing instrumental with a creative rap which combines a stylistic flow with lyrics from an egotistical pink pony. Throw in a some Pinkie Pie vocal chops and a great video loop for the song, and you’ve got a can’t miss hit!
When Drixale describes this release as a “sentimental type beat,” he’s not kidding. Equal parts brooding and bittersweet, “No Second Chances” provides a warm palette of sounds perfect for zoning out to, punctuated by tasteful percussive glitches and quips from Starlight and Trixie.
Melancholic piano? Check. Filtered drums? Check. MLP samples? Check! Jokes aside, we have a short but bittersweet song here from BeatSpark that takes inspiration from a poignant moment in the MLP movie. Take a listen for some downtempo music that gives that rainy day kind of feel…and may be suitable to relax/study to…
There is nothing more beautiful and comfy than Heart Warming (a.k.a. Christmas days!), it is the perfect moment for celebrating and sharing those priceless moments we have with our family, and when chilling with our friends as well! and GhostXb knows this, and the track sounds just like that. GhostXb tells us that he took for inspiration a Wonderful fan art showing Princess Luna gazing at a cold night full of stars and the gentle snow falling from the sky. There are not enough words that describe how great the image looks, so that is why our dear friend decided to make a soundtrack for it and to show us those feelings one has when we are at these moments of the year. The track begins with a small tambourine rhythm and a crystalline piano melody that instantly sets you in the mood for this cozy song. We can hear some warm guitars strumming around, accompanied by those sweet keys in conjunct of neat drums that are just phenomenal. The track continues incorporating new melodies and chords (yes, this tune even has that “Christmas-ish chord” that makes everything sound nostalgic!). We can also listen to some strings, bells, and more tambourines. The atmosphere is just great. So, what are you waiting for! Go and have a pleasant time listening to this excellent song!
CAPT never ceases to amaze with their work! I personally am a sucker for theory style of production, and this song is just so wonderfully done! It starts out with a really fun melody, which slowly fades in as more elements are added along with a riser, resulting in some of the most fun DnB ever! Everything about this is so amazingly cute and wonderful. Around the middle we get a bit of a switch up as we keep the melody but move into some new elements and instruments. We end this wonderful track with a very fitting crash. Huge thanks to theCANderson for proofreading this!
This track represents the culmination of Sparklight Production’s debut EP, “Ethereal“, and what a great way to close out this effort! The song was created with the hope that it could be a comforting reminder to not get caught up in our anxieties and make the most of every day. I can definitely appreciate that sentiment, and the soothing piano melody floating over a chill beat is some good medicine for the frazzled mind. A choir melody adds some nice dimension, and there’s a delightful progression through the piece with a nicely filled out arrangement at the end before the piano carries the song back into the ether. Hopefully it takes some of your worries with it and leave you feeling a little more ready take on the world!
Here’s something different and vibe-y! Study Tapes Vol.1 is Steryotype’s brand new beat tape – full of creative productions and samples that show off the innovative possibilities of the lo-fi genre. Most of the tracks last just long enough to set the tone and get some solid samples, while a few of the tracks on this tape are fleshed out and meant to stand on their own.
One of the standout demos is called Bleu and combines a more lively jazz beat with a trumpet carrying the melody. Combined with the lo-fi soundscape and a couple of charismatic chops, this sample really grabs your attention and is super fun to nod along to.
The longest track on the 19 track tape is UnVerguenza which utilizes the marimba for the melody and a subtle piano to fill out the background. This chill song is the quintessential lo-fi beat – chill, not too complicated, stands on its own, and is perfect to get lost in.
Study Tapes Vol.1 shows off a lot of what lo-fi fandom music can be, and hopefully we will get to see some of these tracks put to great use. Steryotype represents the genre well and has a great commitment to his craft. Lookout for more from this talented creator and hopefully we will get a Volume 2 in the future!
A musical continuation of Koron’s misc video Brony Flag, this musical theme is an extended version of the BGM that you could hear in the clip! The cool vibes are a delight and this is almost making you itch to do your own workout while listening to this… and thinking of ponies of course! As always we gotta thank Koron for being one of the active voices of pony in the pony music scene! Keep it up!! You can find the drawing that Koron made for this upload on his DeviantArt here!
Lo-fi house is a genre I honestly didn’t know existed until just now. House of Spike is just that, and the perfect song if your idea of a fun time is listening to Spike say the word “house” 50 (!!) times. Seriously though, this is an interesting listen. It perfectly blends house with elements of lo-fi production and even sounds you’d expect to hear in a garage song. Give it a spin!
