Flittzy – What More Can I Say | Pop

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 05 March 2017.

Flittzy’s What More Can I Say takes inspiration from Project Horizons, and tells a compelling story through his great voice combined with some nice acoustic guitar, pretty synthwork and complementary percussion.

Ataraxia – Fairylights (feat. Vylet Pony) | Electronic

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 05 March 2017.

Ataraxia takes a look at how Shining Armour might react to Cadence breaking up with him, with some awesome chill beats built around Vylet’s excellently performed vocals. The chorus is especially memorable, with a great flow to it.

Ponytronic – Times Like These | Drum & Bass

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 01 March 2017.

Ponytronic’s been around for a while, but I think this is probably one of the best pieces he’s come up with yet. Featuring some great fast-paced percussion and lovely pluck-y synths, there’s a terrific chill atmosphere built and maintained here. This piece is a part of his Missed Hearts LP, and focuses on the much loved TaviScratch pairing, most evidenced by some good use of vocals in the break during the middle of the track.

Spectra – Serenity | Acoustic

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 February 2017.

Spectra winds us down with a very pretty acoustic piece that definitely conveys the feeling of Applejack taking some time out. The chill vibes are apparent, and well worth giving a listen!

Hay Tea – Shades Of Pink (PhonicB∞m Remix) | Dubstep

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 28 February 2017.

This piece is heavier, with Phonic throwing some pretty cool heavy drops together alongside great use of Pinkie Pie vocal samples throughout the piece that help to give it an interesting flavour.

Hay Tea – Defect (Trixent Remix) | Drum & Bass

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 February 2017.

Trixent’s been one of my recent favourites in the drum & bass scene, so it’s cool to see him take his shot at remixing a track from Hay Tea, one of the others who has been doing great recently. With some great use of the samples from the original to help build an atmosphere, it then builds into some great gritty rolling bass design, with some cool fills and piano to help complement it. Check it out for some smooth dark vibes!

Elias Frost – Royal Duty | Orchestral

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 26 February 2017.

This piece from Elias is more reserved, with soft strings and piano that feed into a more diverse range of sounds as the tracks goes on. It gets pretty folk-y towards the end, which helps to keep it interesting.

Radiarc – Wander | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 February 2017.

Some more beautiful orchestral music from Radiarc, who seems to be making a habit of releasing stunning music like this on a regular basis. The feeling of Fluttershy lying down and letting her mind wander in the soft sunlight is perfectly captured by the languid strings and meandering piano. Spellbinding and mystifying as always, make sure to give it a listen if you want to join Flutters in her relaxation.

A Symphony Of Two – Unravel | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 February 2017.

A Symphony of Two are back with more orchestral goodness, supplemented by some more orchestral music from a newer guy! ASoT’s piece beautifully melds their trademark strings with some lovely woodwind, and later on in the track some rumble-y percussive sounds that help to build an air of mysterious adventure.

Elias Frost – Midnight Frenzy (covering Duo Cartoonist) | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 February 2017.

Something I didn’t expect to see, but am definitely happy to hear! Shifting away from his usual fare of show song covers, Elias Frost delivers a cover of the piece recently put out by Duo Cartoonist. It’s decidedly heavier, with a pretty metal atmosphere and some growl-y tones to some of the vocals, but the traditionally sung chorus is where this shines the most for me, as it works brilliantly with Elias’ voice.
