Phoxi & R3ctifier – Overwrite_Deity (Chang31ing Remix) | Electro

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 February 2017.

Chang31ing has whipped up a remix of Phoxi and R3CTIFIER’s recent piece. Whilst the original was about as heavy as it gets, this remix is a lot more pared back with a focus on deep rolling bass design. It still retains some of the ambient sounds present originally, which definitely provides a nice callback.

[P@D] Paralol, Phoxi & Prey – Horse Protocol | Tech House

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 February 2017.

Time for a bit of tech house from the latest Ponies At Dawn album, with a steadily evolving beat that has some evident influence from all 3 of the creators. It’s not a genre we get often here so it’s cool to hear it done so well!

Einarx – Evening Rain | Drum & Bass

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 16 February 2017.

Now time for a track from Einarx’s recently released EP (watch out for a feature soonish), and features some beautiful violin sounds leading into a vocal chop-filled build that culminates in a heavy synth-driven drum & bass drop.

[SoK] Miles Kintner – A Time That Once Was | Piano Solo

NB: This  is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 February 2017.

Here we have piano piece from Miles Kintner, a musician previously unfamiliar to us, that featured on the recent Seeds of Kindness album. It definitely fits the mood and theme of the album with a steadily evolving feel to it, and some lovely composition.

[SoK] bank pain – Peacekeeper | Neurofunk

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 February 2017.

bank pain takes us on a gritty journey with a spiritual sequel to his older piece Empire Past, most noticeable through the use of similar percussive foley elements to those heard there. There’s some great bass design as well, and it creates a pretty dystopian feel.

DJRedSky – Tropical Tranquility | House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 February 2017.

Here we have DJ RedSkY’s take of tropical house, with a lot of deep vibes being evidently apparent. In my opinion the star of this track is absolutely the pan flute synth that hits home the summery nature of the piece.

Silver Note – Stars | Orchestral Pop Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 February 2017.

Silver Note is one of my favourite vocalists in the fandom, and the fact that he always manages to supplement his terrific clean vocals with compelling instrumentals is a definite bonus. Here the instrumental steadily swells to a crescendo with multiple different orchestral and acoustic elements complementing some beautiful lyricism about one of the classic ships of the fandom, TaviScratch. A thoroughly professional sounding piece, make sure to check it out!

[SoK] Flittzy – Journey | Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 February 2017.

Flittzy takes us on a journey with his track from the latest Bronies For Good album, combining his upbeat vocals with the joyous nature of a bounce-y tropical-style instrumental. There’s some really nice synth design that complements the rest of the track very well.

Elias Frost – Celestia’s Ballad (covering Daniel Ingram) | Folk/Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 14 February 2017.

Elias Frost is back with another show cover, this time of Celestia’s Ballad. For the most part it’s a pretty chilled out and focuses on some soft instrumentation and Elias’ vocals, but it gets a bit metal towards the end where there’s an instrumental solo. The vocals here suit his voice really well, as whilst the original came across relatively motherly in tone, this certainly has a similarly fatherly feel to it.

The Midnight Musician – Cider Party | Big Room

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 February 2017.

Midnight Musician’s taken the idea of a ‘cider party’ pretty literally! This track’s about a cider-filled event at Sweet Apple Acres and has some pretty solid low vocals building up to a big room drop carried by a synth sound that’s pretty characteristic of the genre. It’s a bit of a weird track, but there’s nothing wrong with the occasional track having a bit of character to it in my opinion, so check it out if you’re not averse to that!
