After more than a year in the making, EnergyTone’s EP of instrumental themes for the Mane 6 is finally complete! Check out every single track from it after the break!
Track 1 – Flutter Heart
A song for Fluttershy: Acoustic chord arpeggios and a clean acoustic lead sound give this track a very natural, authentic feel to it. A simple synth lead keeps that feeling, and I can imagine this as part of a game soundtrack, in a nature-filled level or something…
Track 2 – Smiley Pie
A song for Pinkie Pie: Upbeat, energetic, but still light and catchy. This song greatly captures Pinkie’s personality, and makes me smile and tap my foot along every single time I hear it. One of my favourites from the EP.
Track 3 – Apple Orchard
A song for Applejack: With a bit of a heavier beat than the two previous tracks, this song represents Ponyville most dependable citizen. The intro riff has stuck with me and the harmonic makes an AMAZING addition to this song. My personal favourite from the entire EP, it’s just so good!
Track 4 – Rare Diamond
A song for Rarity: A touch of elegance and more sophisticated than the previous tracks, this includes a piano solo. After all, the classiest of ponies deserves something fitting to her tastes…
Track 5 – Bright Sparkle
A song for Twilight: Recurring motifs and suspended chords are plentiful in this song. Just as Twilight often fills the role of a leader among the Mane 6 and brings them together, this song somewhat fills me with a sense of determination…no, that’s not meant to be a certain reference, I’m serious!
Track 6 – Dash of Loyalty
A song for Rainbow Dash: As well as being the only song without a 2-word title, this is the only song on the EP featuring distortion. Of course, it’s only fitting for Dashie! Fast paced drums and fantastic soloing round off this track as a great theme for her.
This EP really shows EnergyTone’s incredible sense of composition. Each of these tracks reflects the personality of the subject brilliantly, and each features unique instruments to match. Then there’s the technical skill too – the mixing on these songs is incredible, you can hear each instrument clearly whilst they still come together to form entire songs seamlessly. I have to say, for me, these themes for the Mane 6 beat the ones AcousticBrony did a few years ago! Good work EnergyTone.
