After a busy hiatus, GhostXB not only returns reinforced by practice but with a new EP as well, full of many wonders. Get the YouTube upload of the full EP after the break along with a short article for each track!
The title track kicks off the EP with nearly 6 minutes of progressive greatness, and strings going from an unsettling mood to an emotional mood, and then even to an “epic” mood. By the way, for more music of the kind of what we can hear around 2:00 in the track, I recommend this OST.
Intriguing piano melodies await you in the second track, Dreadful Insights, evoking for me the sight of a dark cave filled with ancient mysteries. Perhaps that track would work well as a field BGM for an area of that type! But looking at the “concept album” aspect of the EP and at the title of the track, I’m guessing it’s more of an “event track” for some dark revelations.
Halo-ish choruses welcome you to the third track titled Spirits of the Past, and it is a much welcome welcome. Did that get confusing? I’m sorry. I hope you enjoy the track as much as I do! Especially with such magnificent strings in the second part!
The fourth track most probably works as a character theme for Radiant Hope, and it sounds as beautiful as the pony looks. Mellow notes are followed by soothing yet deep vocals for a powerful effect, evoking a stunning beauty as well as a deep character and story at the same time. Really masterful work here, this track might be my personal favorite of the EP, although it sure is hard to pick one!
What immediately comes to my mind while listening to the last track, is an open-ended post-credits “last scene”, as both a hidden outro and a prelude to wonder, while the depth of the songs that just unfolded is maturing. Like a “Secret Ending” scene BGM!
I hope that you enjoyed that beautiful EP and its various themes and moods, and also that you’re excited for the next EP releases from GhostXb! I know I am! The internet saying “The ride never ends” would work perfectly here too.
