NextLevelDerp seems to be getting out a new EP almost every month nowadays! This latest one brings both his talents and those of 3 friends together go make 4 new songs of varying levels of hardcore for you to enjoy. Catch the full post after the break.
The title track starts off this EP. NLD’s thumping 200bpm beats start off quietly, joined suddenly by screams from Redd, which are in turn completely resampled and manipulated as a harder kick toughens out the beat. Horse Or Die folks, that’s the way it is.
Track 2 is a remixed of the aforementioned Horse Or Die by Phoxi. A tad more easy on the ears than the previous song, this quasi-trap remix still keeps some of the hardcore elements and interesting approach to samples of the original while providing a fresh take on it.
The third song brings us back into the realms of hardcore. With a heavily distorted bass and an offbeat lead (that reminds me of Ryazan songs for some reason), R.C.I.C. follows NLD’s usual solo style. And yes, those are .MOV samples you hear 😉
The fourth and final song on this EP has a very different sound to the rest of the tracks. Teaming up with TheTaze, we get Lost Memories, a much more downtempo song compared to the rest of the album. Chill and electro house vibes make this track a more relaxed finale to an otherwise fast-paced and energetic EP.
This EP will be mostly aimed towards people with a taste for hardcore music, the usual sort you may expect from NLD. However, I still enjoyed this entire EP despite being very unfamiliar with terrorcore and speedcore myself…in fact, I’ve probably named the wrong genres there. But anyway, even if your tastes are more mainstream, Phoxi’s remix and the song with TheTazey should suit your needs, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy on this EP.
