Suddenly, a new mini-album from Panic! This was released in celebration of him reaching 5,000 subscribers on YouTube! Send your congrats to Panic, and read on for the full album writeup…
The albums opens with an eerie pad sound, which is quickly accompanied by a piano and a music box. The title, Alone, seems very fitting – it has an isolating feel to it, yet the melody played feels somewhat reassuring. Onto track 2, Dysania, a prog house track with a simple repetitive melody that works well with the minor chord progression running alongside it.
Plucked basses and mid-range tempos? We’re getting into a synthpop vibe here with Dear Mother, a slightly different sound to what we’d normally hear from Panic, but he’s done it pretty well. This is followed by a remix we previously featured on here. IKX’s remix of Quest, originally released by Panic over 2 years ago, is a fantastic dubstep track from the up-and-coming producer!
Track 5, simply titled Tirek is a bit of big room house. Not something we see very often any more, and perhaps more to individual taste than popular trend nowadays. Following up and continuing the theme is True Monster, a dubstep song from Panic himself this time about Discord. Panic’s take on the genre is interesting, especially with the swinging drums.
Time for another remix of an older Panic song. Progressive Element’s remix of Wicked Nightmare features up next, and it’s the usual housey goodness we’ve come to expect from Prog, now with heavier basses in the drop. The album’s outro, Leminiscate, is a short, simple piece based around a 4-chord-progression variant. It feels a bit contrasting with the other songs on the album, but works best as an ending track
This album sees Panic tend to stray away a bit out of his progressive house comfort zone; this is always good to see in artists, trying out new styles. Although Panic does house better in my opinion, I think that’s the more important focus of this album. Keep on trying out new things Panic, and congratulations on reaching 5,000 subscribers!
This album is available to buy on Bandcamp, and Panic will likely release more tracks from it soon on his YouTube channel.
