General Mumble & Koa – BBDFF | Indie Dance

It wouldn’t be a General Mumble track without something creepy. In the same vein as Couldn’t You Just Simply Die? from way back, this collab between Mumble and Koa is a creepy electronic beat with edited vocal samples from the show – specifically Twilight’s BBBFF song – to add new lyrics, adding a dark twist to Twilight’s relationship with her older brother. Nightmare Night may be over, but the creepiness isn’t ending anytime soon.

[ASOS] Cynifree & Reverbrony – Void Walker | Synth Rock

Another Cynifree track? I’ll take it. Track 35 from ASOS: Waffle is a collab between the aforementioned Cynifree and Reverbrony. What follows is a six minute long 80s style electronic piece with the addition of a distorted guitar provided by Reverb as the finishing touch to an already great piece. If these two were to work together in the future after this, I’d be down to see it!

Black Electric and SDreamExplorerS – Marionette (Lianella Stilson Remix) | Metalstep

Metal and EDM aren’t two genres that crossover all that often, but it seems like those who make it happen know how to do it right. Lianella Stilson’s Remix of the SDreamExplorerS‘ cover of Black Electric‘s Marionette combines the heavy guitars and crushing vocals from Dream with synthetic drums and low basslines. This is Lianella’s first release since Fireworks from February of this year, and what a way to return this is.

John Doe – Stroll | Soundtrack

John Doe returns to the soundtrack fold with the 2nd track from the recently released EP, White Tail Park. Keeping in spirit with Legends Of Equestria’s themes, this song primarily uses string and wind instruments you’d find in a typical orchestra. The general feeling of the song is calm and steady, with the faint sound of birds chirping to further fuel the atmosphere of taking a walk outside. Halfway through sees the addition of a wooden-sounding xylophone, which gives a sense of adventure. A great addition to an already great game!

Ponytronic – Circadian Sleep | Chillout

Ponytronic has a penchant for making creepy-sounding music also sound chilled out. This one in particular is the 5th and final track off their recently released EP, Phantasm. Much of the music here consists of a dark melody played by soft synths with a deep bass in the background as well as a strong drum pattern, perfect for the Nightmare Night season. Check out the EP for more great tracks!

[P@D] LOROU – Epoch | Bass House

Track 42 from Ponies at Dawn: Eternal is Epoch, the debut of South Korean DJ LOROU with a bass house track! They’ve left us with a great first impression, featuring a catchy vocal line which repeats at different parts throughout the song while being backed by heavy basslines and sprinkles of chiptune synths. It’s always great hearing new producers come into the fandom. LOROU also appears on track 20 alongside Mantlegen and Eninarx with Lights Out, so check that one out!

Remember Falling – Dead in the Water | Hybrid Orchestral

Remember Falling continues to impress. This track is another from her upcoming album Dawn Into Dusk, and it’s a beautiful one. The song is absolutely filled to the brim with harmonious vocals set to an orchestral and electronic backing, showcasing what sounds to be a duet between a male and a female with lyrical themes of water pulling Hollow (the album story’s main character) towards the next step of her journey. The ambience all throughout the song really does feel like a trip through a deep body of water, so it’s safe to say RF captured that feeling with flying colours. The album has a tentative release for late this year, so keep any eye out!

Nexgen – Uncultured (prod.Vinyl.rawr) | Hip-Hop

It’s been a while since Nexgen’s been seen in the fandom, hasn’t it? This is his first release in 5 years, with his last track coming out in August 2014. Was it worth the wait? Let’s get into that. Backed by a beat by Vinyl.rawr, Nexgen displays his ability to flow along impressively and confidently, showing that after all this time, he hasn’t lost a single iota of his talent. Of course, Vinyl’s beat deserves recognition too, consisting of a low choir and a guitar sample, bringing back feelings of early 2000s rap. Welcome back, you two! We can’t wait to see what you’ll come out with next.

Koron Korak – Vicious Circle Until Inner Emptiness (Toby Macarony remix) | Electronica

The creepiness doesn’t stop. Toby Macarony returns with a remix of Koron Korak‘s 18 minute long epic Vicious Circle Until Inner Emptiness. While it’s a quarter of the length of the original track, don’t let that dissuade you from listening, as it’s still a great remix in its own right. This remix showcases Toby’s unique bouncy style of electronica while keeping the creepiness of the original intact. The middle section features a truly haunting yet beautiful filtered trance pad sound that becomes more clear before eventually being joined by a catchy drum beat and eventually driving into a big crescendo full of all kinds of creepy synths and piano sounds. Seems Toby can do anything!

Nicolas Dominique – Alter Ego | Trance / Ambient

Nicolas Dominique’s newest track is a tale of two personalities, which can easily be represented by its blend of soft and trebly synth lines in tandem with a low, distorted bassline ripped straight from a dubstep song. Blending different electronic styles is nothing unheard of in the EDM scene, but when done right – like here, for instance – it makes for a refreshing listening experience!
