Pit Crew – Don’t Kill the Part of You That’s Cringe | Indie Pop

CW: Profanity

Chuckles and the Pit Crew are back with what I can only describe as the fanart anthem! “Don’t Kill the Part of You That’s Cringe” is all about being creative, making art, and putting it out there – regardless of your level of expertise. The lyrics are about designing a cringy, hot pink, Mary Sue, waifu material, OC purely for the fun of it, and it’s accompanied by a time lapse of ArwenCuack drawing a wonderful alicorn OC decked in rainbow swag galore! The instrumental also sparkles with its bells and bouncy bass; definitely make sure to check out this bop!

Nyanakaru – Oneiromancy (RR64 Hardcore Remix) | Hardcore

CW: mild gore

RR64 decided to take a swing at remixing Nyanakaru’s Oneiromancy, taking an already upbeat and angst-y song and making it even faster and gnarlier in the hardcore style. The piano’s melody is quite frantic and the vocals are met with extra distortion and crunch, turning Sweetie Belle’s vocal line into more of a Squeaky Belle. Mid song, the synth riser swells to the drop and the listener is hit by the slam of the bass coming in on every beat. Many of the bass stabs and percussion hits are directly traceable to the original, but they are recombined here in a way that makes them sound as fresh as ever. Nicely done!

Cyril the Wolf – Millennium Alone (feat. Drummershy) [2023 Version] | Rock

Cyril the Wolf decided to make an updated version of what I believe is his first pony song ever, Millennium Alone, original made in 2011. The track begins with the beautiful playing of acoustic guitar, with the strings melting in, continuing to build with the addition of electric guitars before bursting into a full rock arrangement! The lyrics are Luna-centric with beautiful turns of phrase like “moving tides as she wept”, and Cyril’s vocal performance is phenomenal, flowing smoothly in and out of falsetto, showing off an incredible range. Absolutely splendid!

HARMONY BOP – TIME TO LET GO | Metal / Alt. Rock

NEW MUSICIAN ALERT! HARMONY BOP’s debut track, “Time to Let Go”, tells the tale of Princess Luna reflecting on her actions after being on the moon for so long. It opens with the sound of a gnarly guitar and is joined by Harmony’s excellent vocals. The middle gets heavier and breaks out of meter into a really cool solo section with some other instruments coming in, then jumps into a faster, swing-like section, before returning to its triumphant final chorus. Fantastic work, and I can’t wait to hear what Harmony Bop cooks up next.

Dropper Vampire and Sylvver – With Me | Big Room House

Dropper Vampire and Sylvver’s recent collaboration is a house banger full of energy and life! The song contrasts sections that feature bouncy synths and basses with ones filled with lush and warm pads. There’s tons of subtle sounds in there too which add lots of texture like an acoustic guitar and soaring synth arpeggios sprinkled in. The vocals are to die for—they’re so soft and gorgeous, melting right into the synths! All you EDM fans should check it out.

Velvet R. Wings – Disillusion | Chillout / Folk

Velvet R. Wing’s “Disillusion” is a haunting tune. Velvet’s gorgeous vocals carry the song, starting with just a hum that turns into a wistful verse about loss, changing times, and the need to move on and “fly away.” Her voice is met with the poignant sound of the harp, crisp percussion, and a few synths here and there, all reverberates though a massive space. The overall sound is eerie and transcendental, capturing the tone of the lyrics beautifully. It’s sooo nice!

PrinceWhateverer – [CODE PHANTOM] (Destabilize Pt.4a) | Metal

PrinceWhateverer’s latest release is a raging tune about every pony’s favorite fake filly, Sweetie Bot! The track begins with bouncy chiptune arpeggios before devolving into the heavier guitars and drums. Throughout, you’ll hear lyrics filled with tons of programmer lingo intermixed with the sounds of warning alarms, breaking out occasionally into unique sections that contain glitches galore or incredible piano flourishes! It’s an incredibly energetic tune that you definitely don’t want to miss!

rawrity – need to go home ft. SOUND BANDIT | Pop

rawrity’s back with the latest installment in a series of tracks about their OC looking for and meeting Pinkie Pie! “need to go home” nails that bittersweet sound with its chord progression and several moments where the instrumental drops out, leaving us with just reverb, the echo of a moment passed. The pony chops in the background are a delight, the lyrics make great use of imagery, and SOUND BANDIT’s vocals always bring in some extra hyperpop energy. Great work you two!

MelodyBrony – S.O.V.E.R.E.I.G.N (Feat. PrinceWhateverer, Blackened Blue & Talknet) | Metal

Melody Brony’s latest release is a Chrysalis inspired track which throws just as much punch as when she invaded Canterlot back in season 2! Featuring the talents of PrinceWhateverer and Blackened Blue, the trio really throw down into heavy metal territory, with insane guitar riffs, thrashing drums, and a powerful chorus. The track also makes excellent use of sirens, both at the beginning to introduce the track, but also sprinkled throughout the arrangement and into a hardcore screaming section in the middle. Hopefully we’ll get to see a live crowd mosh to this banger someday!

Pit Crew – Flower, the Dumb Robot | Indie Pop

After seeing LFØ’s brilliant video, “This is Flower, The Dumb Robot Pony”, Chuckles did what any adoring fan would: write a song about her literally the next day! With a simplistic, but bouncy beat, this one is sure to bring a smile to your face. Chuckles’ lyrics are an absolute gem with multiple sections where four words rhyme in quick succession and brilliant pairs like ‘off’ and ‘Asimov’ (the creator of the 3 laws of robotics for those not in the know). There’s plenty where those came from, so make sure you listen to this one all the way through!
