[P@D] UndreamedPanic – The Pillars | Riddim / Dubstep

“You can not bring only the Pillars back”
UndreamedPanic brings out quite the heavy hitter opening with an excerpt from Shadow Play” in which the Pony of Shadows makes his debut, we are soon bombarded with some filthy and aggressive shockwaves. This track is one of my favourites from Ponies at Dawn: Skyward and I love how Panic brings out the concussive force of Riddim while still having some elements of Dubstep in the mix. Overall this is a really powerful piece to play off of the events following the return of the Pillars and deserves its place on the album!

Hay Tea & Age Of Vinyl – Downpour | Liquid Drum & Bass

Hay Tea and Age Of Vinyl are at it again! Downpour has an incredible outpouring of emotion right from the get go and the balance of energy and weight is astounding! The subtle vibrance and ambiances that support this track have such a deep and profound sound to them and the whole song with its meticulous melodies and whimsical harmonies flow like water. This power duo never disappoints and its always a journey seeing what comes next!

Viricide Filly – Vividddd | Downtempo / Experimental Garage

Viricide is no stranger to obscure and unique vibes and this is no exception! There is a very bright and airy atmosphere with those signature processed vocals with which the song opens, but once you get to the meat of the mix that is where she truly shines! A very gritty yet mellow mood with an exceptionally groovy bassline, there is something for everyone here as we follow Eleanor on her journey throughout the soon-to-be-released album “Yet Sightless”.

Tw3Lv3 – Collapse | Liquid Drum & Bass

Tw3Lv3 has released a soothing tune based on a post apocalyptic world and I must say its quite a refreshing change from all of the really dark and gritty songs I often associate with the theme. An ethereal atmosphere is in the forefront with a somewhat somber mood; yet there is still a semblance of hope. This piece does an excellent job at conveying emotion and was a great listen overall!

Daniel Ingram – Better Way To Be Bad (Evgeniy Doctor Remix) | House

This episode was a ton of fun to watch and Evgeniy took it upon themselves to throw a fun four-to-the-floor spin on it. Adding some nice energy to the musical style piece and overall compliment the original with fun electronic elements and a more driven rhythm.

Vylet Pony – The Armada (feat. FlightRush & Roymond) | Orchestral / Dubstep

Continuing their releases from the stellar Homeward album This track opens with a tense, icy arpeggio and orchestrated leitmotif. Before transitioning into a much grittier and intense rush of energy and intricate bass and piercing leads to announce the attack of Spectre’s fleet. The breakdown is amazing as well with a chilling and heavy piano melody and a very dense and airy atmosphere that gives off a brave and hopeful mood and overall is a very stellar piece from the album and if you haven’t already, I highly recommend listening to the album in its entirety (the songs are designed to transition together seamlessly which is amazing) and to give the story a read while doing so as it really helps build the world each song is conveying.

Spikey Wikey, Chang31ing & APPL3JVCK – Party’s Over (Chang31ing VIP) | Riddim

Bringing back a gem from 2015, Chang31ing gives Party’s Over a harder edge with a heavy and wide bassline and a fun use of sample splices and effects. Minimal percussion gives the track some notable ‘weight’ in its grandest sections while also giving room to breathe in the breakdowns. A great nod to the original and fun listening experience all around!

Forest Rain – The Tempest | Rock Ballad

Forest Rain releases yet another track from their new album Discovery, and this one focuses on Tempest Shadow’s broken trust and anger she harboured leading up to the events of the MLP Movie. Powerful piano chords and instrumentation accompany an emotional story in this ballad and you can really tell Forest Rain put a lot of love and effort into it and I highly recommend listening to this and the rest of the album!

[P@D] Tripon – Shy Beat | Halftime Drum & Bass

DON’T BELIEVE HER LIES
Tripon is at it again with a really heavy and dark track leading in with just an unsettling melody and a wide open space I was expecting something unnerving already, but the vocal sampling and editing is insane and the complex rhythms carve a way for pure chaos and insanity. What I especially like, is the transition halfway through. Everything fades out and you’re left with nothing but the void, from here we get a switch from halftime drums to a more common time rhythm which accelerates the urgency ever more and in combination with all the other intricacies it really is one of my favourite tracks from Tripon and I’m certain you will get a thrill out of it!
Now available as part of Ponies at Dawn Skyward!

[P@D] F 109 – Stehekin | Chillout / Electronic

F 109 always brings something mysterious and cryptic to the table and this is no exception! From Ponies At Dawn’s recent album Skyward inspired a nostalgic nigtmare from many moons ago Stehekin opens up with a foreboding organic atmosphere laden with a very immersive soundstage and is heavy with an indigenous or ethnic vibe. Theres also a really nice shift of mood by the end where the electronic grit bubbles to the surface and really brings back the tense emotion felt throughout the piece. Awesome work as always F 109 and can’t wait to see whats next!
