Vylet – Angershy | Hardstyle

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 9 January 2017.

Something a bit different here from Vylet. A pretty solid electro build-up leads into a pretty heavy hardstyle drop dominated by a powerful hardstyle kick. With some voices provided by Cadie to help flesh it out and a very nice break section filled with some orchestral strings, this track manages to convey the extremes of Fluttershy’s personality pretty effectively!

Ataraxia – Austrila 2017 | Piano / Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 January 2017.

A re-imagining of the first track released under this alias, Austrila 2017 is another beautiful example of how well Ataraxia can implement piano into a track as the main component. Whilst it starts off as mostly just being a beautifully composed piano piece, it bursts to life halfway through with some other orchestral elements and pounding percussion. Make sure to check it out below for a pretty yet powerful track!

Maressey – I Want the One I Can’t Have | Indie

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 January 2017.

A new track from Maressey, I Want The One I Can’t Have features vocals from Zatslol and a strong instrumental from Johnny Mare. Whilst this kind of thing is always a bit of a touchy subject, I feel like this track approaches the subject matter pretty tastefully and with great production value, Zatslol’s vocals especially shine strongly in this track.

[P@D] R3CTIFIER & Phoxi – overwrite_deity | Neurofunk

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 January 2017.

R3CTIFIER and Phoxi are two of the best in the fandom at innovative sound design, so it’s pretty awesome to see them combine forces! This neurofunk track features some powerful percussive elements that dominate the first drop, whilst there’s some great neuro sound design that takes over a bit more in the latter part of the track.

Phoxi – Redolence | Tech House | Introducing: The HMC YouTube Channel

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 7 January 2017.

Phoxi is at it again with an awesome new tech house track! Often one to dabble in outlandish sound design, Phoxi is also able to show off here an ability to create a track that can immerse the listener rather than barraging them.

This track was featured on the Horse Music Central Volume 2 album, and also acts as the first release for their new YouTube channel where they’ll be showing off awesome new horse music on a regular basis!

Mortido Spectrum & SDreamExplorerS – The King | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on

SDreamExplorerS has teamed up with musician Mortido Spectrum to deliver an epic metal track about King Sombra’s reclamation of the crystal empire. With some cool vocals and an even cooler instrumental, this is definitely a great collaboration! The piano at the start sets the mood well, and the awesome guitar sections help to build upon the atmosphere delivered by the vocals, both sung and spoken word. Make sure to check it out below!

Daniel Ingram – Midnight In Me (Brilliant Venture Remix) | Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 5 January 2017.

After some time, we got a pretty great remix of Midnight In Me from bank pain recently, and here we have another one, this time from Brilliant Venture! Complete with a music video made up of clips from the movie, this one’s full of the heavy wubs and minor chiptune influences common to Venture’s music , and complements the vocals pretty well. Make sure to check it out below!

UndreamedPanic & Bank Pain – Night Light | Melodic Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 4 January 2017.

What a way to start off their year! Panic has teamed up with bank pain to produce one of the coolest dubstep tracks I’ve heard in this kind of style for quite some time in the fandom. The intro and the bridge are just professional as heck with beautiful vocal chops and the drops are full of some really neat sound design. Make sure to check this out if you’re at all interested in melodic music or dubstep!

Seventh Element – Fear of Dark | Album | Electronic

NB: This was originally featured on Equestria Daily on 24 December 2016.

Seventh Element, one of the most prolific artists in the fandom, has released a spooky concept album called Fear Of Dark. Generally things like this are best served in one extended sitting – which is probably why he’s uploaded it all as one singular video. This is a pretty dark album, with ambient and foreboding soundscapes, however some parts include vocals, and others are a bit more uptempo. He’s also written a fanfic to go with it, if you want to go deep into the meaning of the album, as both the story and the album are meant to compliment each other. Make sure to check the video of the album out below if this sounds like something for you – it’s high quality stuff!

PS from Spectra: Sorry readers (and especially sorry SE if you’re reading) if you were expecting a more comprehensive post. We definitely fell behind in December, and I especially haven’t been able to keep up as much as I used to. We’re working on a way to fix that, I promise.

Kadenza – Zen (EM120X Remix) | Hands-Up

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 4 January 2017.

Kadenza’s most recent pony hit Zen was an awesome fusion of his signature melodic style with orchestral elements, but here EM120X has turned it into an unashamedly dance-y banger. With a strong bassline and nice lead synths, this is a groovy remix and it only gets better towards the end where there’s an awesome change up and a vocal melody joins in to add some extra joy.
