[P@D] Zizkil – I Miss When You Loved Me | Complextro

Zizkil’s productions are always full of some super cool sound design and here that’s no different, with his new tune from Eternal. There’s a really interesting combination between crunchy sound design and some more soft and delicate moments in the track driven by piano, as well as some very interesting synthesised vocals taken from the iconic show song ‘Luna’s Future’.

Thrasher – Blackened Eyes (feat. Night Crow) | Black Metal

Thrasher is back with a bang, showcasing some intense black/doom style metal featuring the help of Night Crow, a regular collaborating partner for him. Intense scream/growl vocals combine with heavy chugging guitars and impactful percussion, along with a clever throwback to the melody of Rainbow Factory as well.

Plum Creek Rhythm Section -The Countess (Remix) | Drum & Bass

Plum Creek usually specialises in rock music, but in the past plenty of those rock tunes have included some electronic synth influence too. Here he’s gone all the way in on the electronic angle with a chilled out drum & bass remix of his Coloratura-themed track The Countess. With a clean mix, solid vibe and great use of the original vocals, it’s nice to see such a direction from him.

[P@D] Silva Hound – Shadows | Electro

Silva Hound has been making a whole bunch of different electronic tunes lately, and this one from Eternal takes a darker turn combining the story of the pony of shadows with some killer electro sounds alongside some of his classic funky chord stabs. The first drop has plenty of groove to it, whilst the second is all about that aggressive sound design.

[P@D] Frozen Night – Unsung | Epic Orchestral

Frozen Night’s abilities as a composer are practically second to none at this point in the fandom when it comes to big, powerful orchestral works. The fact that this one tells such a deep and complex story is especially impressive, working in unison with Lyra’s adventure throughout the Background Pony fanfiction. Each section is equally spellbinding in its own way, and is a journey that simply must be experienced. I dare say that being familiar with the underlying inspirational material would make it all the more powerful!

[P@D] bank pain – Reflections (feat. PegasYs) | Melodic Dubstep

The production abilities of bank pain just keep getting better! Here he’s taken a bit of a detour from the dark deep neuro-style druym & bass tunes he’s often focused on to provide a powerful melodic dubstep track that nonetheless still carries plenty of his trademark style. Combined with some of PegasYs’ best vocals yet, it’s clear that a lot of work went into this tune. I especially adore the vocoded vocal section and the way it builds into the final drop so well, not to mention the clarity of the mix as a whole.

[P@D] Skunked – Sky High | Dubstep

Skunked has been improving a lot lately, and this is definitely my favourite thing I’ve heard from him so far. Featuring a relentlessly upbeat and positive vibe throughout its chiptune-flavoured dubstep vibes, there’s some terrific energy supplied by the aggressive sound design, clever use of vocal samples and lovely FX inputs too. The way it just dives into the drops is especially fun to experience, even on repeated listens.

[P@D] GrazySmash – Thunderbolt | Psytrance

This track just hits you in the face as soon as it starts, with no chill. Grazy is an up and coming artist who has released some excellent tracks lately, with this one providing one of the best examples of fandom psytrance I’ve heard. Absolutely evoking the feeling of being lost in amongst a thunderstorm, the classic psy bass design combines perfect with orcherstral and vocal hits alongside some terrific stormy atmosphere. Definitely an artist to watch if they keep up stuff like this!

[P@D] Age Of Vinyl – Heroes of The Sky | Drum & Bass

Age of Vinyl’s drum & bass creations always impress me, and this is arguably one of his best yet. Creating a gorgeous emotion that pulls you in almost immediately, the drums are smooth and the vocal chops are the absolutely height of what I love about this sort of sound. Combined with the gentle bass and uplifting arpeggiation, it’s well worth a listen and certainly one of my favourite songs of this style to come out of the fandom!
