Synthis – Crash To Pieces | Future

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 3 December 2016.

Consistently high quality and beautifully produced, new Synthis releases are always something I look forward to eagerly, so it’s great to see a new piece from him! The instrumental for this track is a lot more relaxed than some of his other works, with a bit of a trap/future bass feel to it, and it works wonderfully in collaboration with some wonderfully sung vocals. The lyrics themselves are also quite thoughtful, so it’s worth paying attention to them whilst you listen. Make sure to check it out!

Filly in the Box – Into the Rain | Neurofunk

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 6 December 2016.

A new neuro track from Filly in the Box, but this one is a little different than most of the recent ones he’s released, with a more chill vibe to it. This is accentuated by the expert use of some Fluttershy vocal samples, and the sense of space given by some of the sounds in the track is really nice to hear. It feels both empty and full at the same time, which creates a pretty nice feel to the track. Definitely worth checking out if you want some chill neuro.

Elias Frost – Welcome to Pegasopolis | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 5 December 2016

A bit of a change from the metal and dark orchestral pieces he normally puts out, Elias shows his lighter side here with a strong uplifting orchestral piece meant to act as a sort of anthem for the pegasus race. I do quite like Elias’ orchestral works and this one is no different with a strong mix of instrumentals from trumpet-like sounds to crisp strings and some marching-style percussive elements as well. Definitely worth a listen if you want to celebrate the power of the pegasus!

GROskAr – Banned Magics | Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 4 December 2016

GROskAr is one of the most consistent designers of heavy stuff in the fandom, so it’s cool to see some more new music from him! This one cuts to the chase pretty quickly, with a 30 second build up giving way to a heavy drop full of harsh bass sounds. The break in the middle manages to hold up some tension and make sure you don’t relax before some vocal chops help differentiate the second drop from the first really well. Definitely worth checking out if you want some heavy dubstep!

Jyc Row – To Cloudsdale! | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 5 December 2016.

Jyc Row is back again with a new orchestral track, and this is certainly one of his more uplifting ones! With a strong happy vibe to it, pushed mostly by the bright strings throughout the track, it also features his trademark strong percussive influence and some celtic flavour towards the end that still manages to fit in quite well. Drawing inspiration from the artwork above, it’s easy to hear the influence shine through as Jyc takes us on a trip to cloudsdale.

Daniel Ingram – The Pony I Want To Be (Xavi Remix) | Future House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 1 December 2016.

After a bunch of releases under the name Kawaii Dash, Xavi returns with what’s probably one of the most interesting remixes of The Pony I Want To Be. This one takes the vocals and combines them wonderfully with an instrumental that’s an interesting combination of future sounds and a bounce-y groove. As with all Xavi tracks, it also features some pretty neat percussion and auxiliary sounds, and the vocal chopping towards the end is also much appreciated – definitely worth giving a listen!

Injustrial – Sounds of War | Industrial

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 2 December 2016.

The first proper pony track from Injustrial in quite a few months, Sounds Of War features all the trademarks of his gritty industrial style. A mixture of heavy synth design and harsh vocals, along with a pretty consistent bassline, this piece definitely captures the essence of the artwork utilised. I always look forward to new Injustrial releases, as this style of music is quite a rarity in the fandom so it definitely sticks out a lot more.

Silva Hound ft. Black Gryph0n – EGOMANIA (Phoxi Remix) | Dubstep / Electro

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 29 November 2016.

Phoxi has done it again with an awesome new heavy track that hits you like a blizzard. As part of Silva Hound’s new remix EP for his track with Black Gryph0n, this remix is definitely the craziest of the bunch. Starting out tamely enough with some strong bass sounds and clean percussion, it builds up pretty steadily before hitting with a crazy electro drop full of some pretty awesome and eclectic harsh sound design, that’s still pretty accessible in my opinion. Definitely worth checking out if you like heavy stuff!

Frozen Night – Chrysalis Metamorphosis | Orchestral Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 30 November 2016.

I have just been loving Frozen Night’s releases recently. It feels like they’ve crossed that precipice into producing consistently high quality works. This one is no different, an 8 minute orchestral metal epic about Queen Chrysalis. It slides between heavy, powerful metal sections and more serene, light, almost ambient sections as well. The build in power around 4 minutes in is especially enjoyable to listen to. Definitely an awesome piece of work from Frozen, and well worth a listen.

4everfreebrony – Hoping (feat. Giggly Maria & Relative1Pitch) | Acoustic Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 November 2016.

A revamp of a song he wrote whilst in Argentina that some of you might remember, ‘Hoping’, this fully realised version is wonderfully produced and features some excellent vocals too. The emotion in the piano, the guitar and the vocals themselves help push the vision of the piece. This track is available as the title track on 4everfree’s new album, Hoping, which I highly recommend checking out. It also features a bunch of his other recent hits such as ‘Smell The Roses’, ‘Bound With Time’, ‘Carry On’ and more!
