ertrii – Reminder | Chillout

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 20 October 2016.

etrii has been busy lately, and here’s another release from them! Whilst a strong statement is quickly made by the energetic percussion, the synths that come in suggest that this will be a more chilled out track. The break in percussion further establishes this, with a more atmospheric flow to the middle of the track, before the percussion comes back in with some quite nice piano too. If you like your chillout tunes a bit more frantic than normal, definitely make sure to check this out!

[P@D] Kadenza – Zen / delfino* – Fly With You | Hands Up / Hardcore

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 9 October 2016.

Kadenza has been releasing pretty awesome house and hands up music for a while now, but here they’ve added in a little extra flavour to the mix. This track is absolutely still a hands up banger at heart, but has some beautiful orchestral sections which help to make it a bit more unique, and even some D&B too! Kadenza’s productions are always incredibly polished, as shown by their achievements outside of the pony fandom too – recently they’ve been releasing some music on non-pony netlabel 99Lives, the second pony artist to do that after house king Archie. Back to the track though, if super hyped up dance-y EDM is what you’re after, this is where to get it, so check it out below!

delfino*, one of the people behind the series of ‘Japan Pony Party’ albums (a preview of the latest one can be found here), has been making some pretty cool stuff recently, but in my opinion this is definitely their best work to date. Somewhat similar in style to Foozogz, this track has a pretty J-core build up to it before it breaks out the fast-paced rhythm and super cool vocal chops. The combination of all these elements help to make this a pretty awesome track, and definitely worth giving a listen!

[P@D] NeverLastStanding – Kronos | Moombahcore / Electro

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 20 October 2016.

NeverLastStanding has made a lot of pretty cool remixes over the last year, but it’s his original releases that really excite me, so I’m glad we’ve been getting a few more of those recently. Here, he’s released a moombah-style track that draws heavily on vocal chopping Pinkie Pie’s voice, and has some really awesome chords and melodies. It switches up a lot, and doesn’t stick with one melody for too long, which helps to make sure it doesn’t get boring. A really high energy track, this is definitely worth checking out!

Neighsayer – Learning From The Best (FritzyBeat Vocal Version) | Electro Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 18 October 2016.

Neighsayer released a tune called Learning From The Best in late 2013, and with some mixing help from Jastrian and lyrics help from Sights Unseen, FritzyBeat has put together some pretty awesome vocals on top of it! They complement the original track pretty well, and definitely help to reinvigorate it a bit. You can check out the original track here, but otherwise grab the new vocal version below!

A Symphony Of Two – A Symphony Of Chaos | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 19 October 2016.

Returning with another piece, A Symphony Of Two have created a dark orchestral tune themed around Discord. The tone of the piece certainly fits the character, and again, it’s quite cool being able to observe them as they create the music in the video for the track. With some grim-sounding piano combined with solid percussion and brooding strings and choir, this is certainly worth giving a listen!

[P@D] Silver Note – Run | Alt. Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 October 2016.

Silver Note is one of the most vocally impressive rock musicians around the fandom in my opinion, and he makes great use of his vocals here in this track about Spike and Ember called Run. The guitars here also have a really nice tone to them, and there’s also a few subtle electronic elements that help to flesh out the piece. In recent times he’s achieved a relatively mainstream alt. rock / pop-rock sound, so if that’s your thing, this is absolutely worth checking out!

[P@D] Brilliant Venture – Radio Mare | Complextro

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 9 October 2016.

Brilliant Venture seems to have one mission – to mash together as many wubs and pony vocals as possible. This tracks certainly pushes him further along that adventure with an awesome mix of complextro sounds, and pony samples galore. The build up to the drop especially makes fantastic use of the ‘I’ve Been Dreaming’ song from Rainbow Dash. If ponies and chilled out complextro drops are your thing, this is more than worth a listen!

[P@D] Kawaii Dash – V!bes | Future Tropical House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 October 2016.

Xavi/Kawaii Dash is all about the modern genres in EDM, future, tropical, that kind of thing. So, why not combine some of them? That’s what they’ve done here with a fundamentally tropical house-feeling tune that also has some really cool future-influenced wobbles that help to add some extra depth. The main melody is really good, especially the little trills that happen every now and then. Definitely worth a listen if you’re looking for some chilled out ‘V!bes’.

Jastrian & FritzyBeat – Ghostie (MrMehster Remix) | Progressive House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 October 2016.

Jastrian and Fritzy’s awesome new track Ghostie feels like it only came out a few days ago, but there’s already a remix of it out! MrMehster’s turned the pop-y original track and turned it into a pretty upbeat prog house track. The main synth in the drop is pretty cool, and the transformation from mellow to a more decidedly happy feel still works here – definitely worth a listen!

[P@D] Neighsayer – Shimmer | Alt. Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 October 2016.

Neighsayer’s been a little slow with releases recently, but here he’s managed to put out what is quite possibly my favourite track from him. This is a really awesome alt. rock style track about Sunset Shimmer, featuring art from Shamanguli (feels like almost everybody’s using his art nowadays! Can’t say I blame them though). The groovy sound that comes in around 2:30 is just fantastic, and overall it’s a really nicely composed instrumental piece. Definitely worth checking out!
