Double Cleff – Luck of the Rose | Electronic Orchestral

Double Cleff revitalizes a very old and very good piece of his in this reboot. A song about Roseluck positively filled with love, happiness, and vibrancy, Luck of the Rose is already a good song. But Double Cleff’s vocoded vocals (reminiscent of All Levels at Once) make it stand out from the crowd.

[ASOS] Lunar Drift – Starlight | Alternative Rock

Lunar Drift has written a song about best pony, and I have the honor of reviewing it! Alternative Rock usually isn’t my thing, but Lunar Drift makes it very enjoyable. Starting with some samples of Starlight’s brainwashing in S5E01, it smoothly transitions into top-notch guitar playing. All throughout, the deliciously foreboding sense of impending danger remains, like the surveillance in Our Town.

Editor’s note: And if you like this, remember to check out the entire ASOS: Lollipop album!

ertrii – Supremacy | Uplifting Trance

Uplifting Trance, woohoo! I’m a huge fan of trance, and I’ve been eager to review some since I got here.

And what a piece of trance it is. ertrii’s music is always amazing (seriously, he’s so underrated, check him out), but to hear this much talent lovingly applied to trance? That is something beautiful. Incredibly rich sound is enhanced by clever selection of effects. The bassline, too, is powerful and almost hypnotic. ertrii takes us far away, to that magical world of talking ponies and friendship we all love.

Royalpony – Solar Empire (Daybreaker) | Hardstyle

Solar Empire, now that’s a blast from the past! Royalpony’s newest track creatures a delightful admixture of 2011 fandom and 2017 samples. Even harder than most of his stuff, it channels the sound of an anthem for a totalitarian government, as well as the high-energy beat and high-frequency synths of a final boss. The vocal samples of Daybreaker add that “finishing touch” to turn a good song to a great song.

Totalspark – Wishes | Chill House

Totalspark has some relaxing, soft chill house for us. A gentle but firm kick and trance-y plucks conspire to create an atmosphere of pure bliss. Usually if people say that music makes you sleepy, it’s a bad thing. But Wishes lulls you off to sweet dreams and panoramas of ponies at play in the fields.

4everfreebrony – House of Glass [2017 Re-Record] / Aviators – House of Glass [Cover] | Orchestral

4everfreebrony resurrects an old classic with his 2017 re-record. Opening with a truly stunning melody plays on woodwinds, and progressing into piano, this track is an absolute masterpiece of composition. His singing is kind and passionate (and sounds almost like I think Dusk Shine would, actually). About Trixie and overflowing with emotion, this song moved me to tears.

And Aviators has covered it as well! It’s always a pleasure to see him make pony music again. His vocals, as usual, are expert and soothing. The reverb, too, echoes in the most lovely way. It’s hard for a cover or remix to do the original justice, but Aviators is very good at that.

The Ponytones – I Want to Hold Your Hoof | Classic Rock

The Ponytones is a collaboration of pony music lovers to ponify famous and classic songs. I’ve got a vested interest in the project from the get-go, as I’m good friends with one of the contributors. But even if you’ve never heard of any of these people, their first song will get you interested in the rest of the rest of their respective works.

It’s a truly stellar parody of Beatles classic “I Want To Hold Your Hand.” With genius lyrics, amazing vocals and vocal editing, beautiful instrumentation, this is simultaneously a very fresh and a very nostalgic piece. The mixdown is raw, bleeding, and perfectly oldschool. Rock isn’t my thing, but I Want to Hold Your Hoof has seized a position in my heart alongside my favorite songs of my favorite genres. What a song!

Nicolas Dominique – Carnival | Ambient

This chill, complex composition by Nicolas Dominique is at once relaxing and enigmatic. A very goa-lika main synth sets the mood here, accented by a wide array of effects and ambiences. Woody, echoing synths accentuate the main, creating that unearthly feel of a carnival. Nicolas’s sound design is absolutely on-point here too, for a strange experience into the unknown.

Suskii – Fate of Equestria | Orchestral Dubstep

I’ve been friends with Suskii a good 3 years, and known him across 4 musician aliases. And I’m confident in saying that this is his best song he’s made so far. He starts off in a surprising and amazing way, with an unbelievably atmospheric intro full of haunting orchestral melodies andsamples from the most epic finale to date. From there, he builds up to the classic “Suskii drop” we’ve come to know and love. At every part, I was either agape in awe or banging my head along with the beat. Truly, this is orchestral dubstep.

[P@D] Hydra – Generator / Hay Tea, Sky Runner & FluffyKitty – Deadline | Drum & Bass

Hydra resurfaces with some lovely Drum & Bass for us all! Great breaks, great drums, and a great ambiance are only a few of the features that make this stand out. More than a few of Hydra’s signature sounds are here, and they’re all delicious to hear again. But what really strikes me is that this song has a guitar bassline (!!!), which is something I’ve never found in any other DnB song. And honestly, it’s just a genuine pleasure to listen to!

Hay Tea, Sky Runner & FluffyKitty all worked together to bring us this darkly ambient track. Gritty breaks take center stage to set the mood. Fast, grim, and channeling the same Lightning Dust spirit as the last tracks of Rainbow & Rooted, Deadline is an insight into the darker side of pegasus racing.
