Quicksilver charges back onto the scene with his first solo song in nearly a year, Not The Same! Just under a minute in length, this story about Moondancer takes off at full blast and doesn’t let up until the end. He sings with raw power and conviction in front of a heavy punk instrumental with elements of ska thrown in for a nice change of pace. Pony punk is always a treat!

StableTwoStallion & Koron Korak – Twi and Rares do a Jam | Industrial Metal
This collab has a unique approach, as you’ll need to watch this with two videos playing at the same time! Twi and Rares do a Jam depicts a scenario where they’re set to perform on stage, with their voices provided by 15.ai. Once they’re done talking, a short but heavy instrumental plays, showing off Stable‘s signature metal style with some electronic additions from Koron Korak. Even as a light-hearted April Fools day gag, it sounds pretty great!
Jyc Row – Equestria Assemble | Orchestral
Equestria, assemble! Jyc Row’s first track of the year is Equestria Assemble, a hefty orchestral piece inspired by the Avengers. Based on the S9 finale, the song jumps straight into the powerful side of things without letting up, signifying the combined forces of Equestria coming together to stop the evil reigns of Tartarus’ most valued tyrants. An epic piece of imagery requires an equally epic sound to go along with it!
Brownie – I Am Who I Am | Metalcore
Brownie’s come back with his first original in nearly a year! I Am Who I Am is a powerful song centred around Derpy with lyrical themes about being true to yourself and living life however you want, no matter what others think. The video shows Brownie playing the song, clearly having a ton of fun, featuring appearances from Neighhem merchandise and a Derpy plushie!
Nyancat380 – Controlled Minds | Acidcore
You can always expect something crazy from Nyancat380, and Controlled Minds is no exception. Erratic Pinkie vocal chops fade in before jumping into a powerful beat just before the drop which consists of low-sounding noises put together rhythmically before quickly pushing right back into Pinkie’s voice. While on the shorter side, this definitely has a few unique sounds to it that are pleasing to the ear!
Lianella Stilson – Ears Up! | Dubstep
Lianella Stilson isn’t holding back with this one. Ears Up showcases her soft vocals in front of a powerful electronic backing, which mixes hardstyle and dubstep and even metal, as shown when Stilson growls “kill you” in a brutal fashion. Juxtaposed with this track is one of her staple components when it comes to her music, a cute visual of her pony looking around sheepishly in front of an explosion, her eyes occasionally turning black. Everypony has a dark side…
Daniel Ingram – BBBFF (Toby Macarony Remix) | Alternate Electronic
Another remix from Toby Macarony’s unique mind. This one is said to be his first ever attempt at creating MLP-related music, even predating his remix of Open Up Your Eyes from 2017! Even back then, all the elements you’ll hear in his music today was present here. This remix of BBBFF features plenty of beautiful elements, such as a lovely choir in the middle and brass/orchestral instruments. The result is a powerful remix that accentuates the original vocals perfectly. Can’t ignore this one!
Rarity Advocate – Sinfonia for Klavier | Orchestral/Soundtrack
Rarity Advocate’s first track of the year (and decade, by extention) is finally here! Sinfonia for Klavier is a two part story told through music, with each image depicting a different scenario. The first part of the song solely consists of a harpsicord playing a regal melody fitting of the princesses; they’re seen waking up in bed in the morning. The track then quickly fading out into a much softer piano part that shows an image of Luna and Starlight Glimmer sitting across from one another over some tea. They’ve shown you don’t need words to get a good image in your head!
Whirlwind – The Friendship Experiment | IDM
Whirlwind returns with another unique electronic piece. Based on Lesson Zero, The Friendship Experiment is an erratic and glitchy track with lots of hefty sounds and NES styled synths. All the craziness brings about feelings of being in Twilight’s underground lab while thinking of ways to create problems to solve. The Aphex Twin influence is very prominent!
Spikey Wikey – Chants | Breakbeat
Fresh off the presses from Spikey Wikey is Chants, the A-side from the newly released Chants/Nice Things single! Chants does a very good job at creating a unique atmosphere with only a few elements; Fluttershy vocal samples, breakbeat samples, faint synths and a brooding bassline. Her voice is the real star of the show, adding to the track’s ominous atmosphere, particularly when she simply vocalises along with the main melody. Like she says, just give it a chance!
