A Symphony Of Two – For The Greater Good | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 10 January 2017.

A new orchestral release from A Symphony Of Two, For The Greater Good paints a picture of the sorrow that must have been felt by both sisters after Celestia’s imprisonment of Luna on the moon. With a solemn mood, and beautifully emotional climaxing of the piece towards the end, I’m very impressed by the flow of this one.

Celestial Throne – City Lights | Ambient

Considering they ‘specialise’ in metal, I was not expecting to see an ambient track from Celestial Throne. From what I gather, it was used as part of an “animatic” / storyboard with some, uh, dark themes (check the video description for that at your own discretion), but stands alone nicely as its own piece.

Almost Anyone & FritzyBeat – When the Winter Ends | Electro Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 9 January 2017.

It’s been a while since Fritzy’s teamed up with Almost Anyone for a pony track, and it’s certainly nice to have a new collab from them! Fritzy’s trademark vocal style works well with the heavy and happy electronic synth design of Almost Anyone, as they bring a track about Rainbow Dash and Tank.

[P@D] Dashtortion – Don’t Leave Me (bank pain & Intersekt Remix) | Drum & Bass

The last of the P@D: Amity pre-releases on Cider Party before the album release sees 2 (typically) dnb producers team up to remix an alt. rock collab from the last P@D album, Voyager. bank pain and Intesek’t skills combined ensure a dnb track with all-round great sound design, drum programming, and melodic elements. And sampling guitars from the original adds another interesting layer to the soundscape.

Be sure to join us tomorrow at 3pm EST on PonyvilleFM to listen to Lycan Dese Beats present the album in its entirety and celebrate both Ponies At Dawn’s 10th album and PonyvilleFM’s 6th anniversary of broadcasting! Follow all of us (HMH, P@D, LDB, PVFM) on Twitter too to see reminders about the event.

Vylet – Angershy | Hardstyle

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 9 January 2017.

Something a bit different here from Vylet. A pretty solid electro build-up leads into a pretty heavy hardstyle drop dominated by a powerful hardstyle kick. With some voices provided by Cadie to help flesh it out and a very nice break section filled with some orchestral strings, this track manages to convey the extremes of Fluttershy’s personality pretty effectively!

Ataraxia – Austrila 2017 | Piano / Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 January 2017.

A re-imagining of the first track released under this alias, Austrila 2017 is another beautiful example of how well Ataraxia can implement piano into a track as the main component. Whilst it starts off as mostly just being a beautifully composed piano piece, it bursts to life halfway through with some other orchestral elements and pounding percussion. Make sure to check it out below for a pretty yet powerful track!

Maressey – I Want the One I Can’t Have | Indie

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 8 January 2017.

A new track from Maressey, I Want The One I Can’t Have features vocals from Zatslol and a strong instrumental from Johnny Mare. Whilst this kind of thing is always a bit of a touchy subject, I feel like this track approaches the subject matter pretty tastefully and with great production value, Zatslol’s vocals especially shine strongly in this track.

Rusty Thorsell – The Strangers With The Windy Flutes | …

This may or may not be your cup of tea, but we’ll post it anyway. Rusty’s been getting creative again – now making sounds out of…well, quite literally nothing. Take a look at the description if you want to learn a bit more about how he made this track, otherwise enjoy this metallic-sounding…thing. I have no idea what genre this is.

Haardtek – Memories | Trance

Now there’s a name I haven’t seen in a while! Haardtek is back, being repped on A State of Sugar with his new song Memories. While the track is trance throughout the most part of its 8 minute duration, there’s a nice little garage-beat-style breakdown in there that creates a nice variation. Definitely one to check out for classic trance fans!

[P@D] R3CTIFIER & Phoxi – overwrite_deity | Neurofunk

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 January 2017.

R3CTIFIER and Phoxi are two of the best in the fandom at innovative sound design, so it’s pretty awesome to see them combine forces! This neurofunk track features some powerful percussive elements that dominate the first drop, whilst there’s some great neuro sound design that takes over a bit more in the latter part of the track.
