I can always rely on Direct Current for some pretty, relaxing music. Calm Winds does this very nicely. Soft saw pads, gentle bass, and just a little bit of drums, a nice all-rounder to end the day on.
Audios
Sonic Hooves – Barcarolle | Piano Sonata
It’s always quite nice to hear solo instrumental pieces from the orchestral and classical musicians in the fandom. Relax with this piano piece from Sonic Hooves about riding in a boat. Bonus points to them too for the little linguistic explanation of the title 😀
Snail’s House – 恋するSpaceGirl (Vylet Remix & Adaptation) | Indie Dance
Well this is…different. Vylet has taken a song by Snail’s House, and both remixed it and added his own vocals to it relating to Twilight. You wouldn’t think it would work, but it does, and so well too!
Elias Frost – Under Our Spell (covering Daniel Ingram) | Finnish Folk
Well, it’s one thing to cover this song, but to translate it into another language and perform it in a style native to the country where said language is spoken. This take on Under Our Spell from Elias Frost features plenty of interesting wind instruments and percussion. And uh, you probably don’t need a translation of the lyrics 😉
Duo Cartoonist – Trust In Me | Orchestral
With something that sounds like its come straight out of a Disney movie, Duo Cartoonist, producers of the much celebrated Children of the Night, have released their first original piece of music, featuring the talents of a whole bunch of people who helped out to make it a reality. If Disney villain music is your kind of thing, you’ll probably love this.
Ponytronic – Crescent Lament (Vylet Remix) | Jungle Terror
Just wow, Vylet’s done some pretty crazy stuff recently sound design-wise and this is absolutely one of the most out there ones. Here he’s released a remix for Ponytronic’s upcoming album, and he’s taken the jungle terror route – though, this being Vylet, it definitely doesn’t constrain itself to the one genre.
Totalspark & Xavi – Senpai Material | Progressive House
Totalspark and Xavi have teamed up and produced a track about Sunshet Shimmer, whom they’ve evidently decided is totally senpai material. A soft, gently flowing track, this one doesn’t stand out boldly at any point, but it’s really nice to listen to.
[SNMS] Progressive Element – Crystal Fragments | Liquid Drum & Bass
Fresh from the Shika No Mori album released recently, Progressive Element brings us an immersive liquid drum and bass experience filled with wonderfully mixed in vocal samples and some really neat drum breaks – definitely a favourite of mine from the album!
Radiarc – I Know | Orchestral
Recently having been generally a proponent of some of the more dark and atmospheric orchestral releases in the fandom, here brings something a little different to that. Fitting beautifully to the chosen artwork is this calm, sombre piece that causes much contemplation.
The Shake Ups in Ponyville – No Hands | Rock
The Shake Ups, deliverers of some great unashamedly pony music recently, here bring a fusion of Nirvana-style rock and Lyra’s obsession with the human form that combine surprisingly well.
