This totally not confusingly-titled song by Francis Vace is…well, as it says in the thumbnail, a cover of NewPatrol’s remix of Flak’s song Walls. So kinda hitting 2 birds with one stone in terms of the specifications of the latest Ponies At Dawn album. Not only that, but it combines Vace’s 3 main styles of punk, ska and, more recently, metal. Really hitting all those birds, poor things…

[P@D] PegasYs – Wasteland (DJT Remix) | Neurofunk
NB: This was originally posted on Equicity on 13 January 2017.
As a long time producer in the fandom, DJT has made a name for himself: a name that carries the sweet connotation of exceptional melodies, vocal chops and cute vibes. Forget all this, as this tune is a wholly different kind of beast.
Inspired by the intricate neurobass architecture of the original track, DJT speeds up the experience to drum & bass tempo and provides a steady pluck bassline to bring in hard jump-up vibes, all this while retaining PegasYs’ artful rhodes chords. Plentiful use of silences, reverb and foley creates an immersive atmosphere that beautifully captures the eerie allure of an apocalyptic landscape.
Make sure not to miss out and grab a download on the Ponies at Dawn bandcamp page!
4everfreebrony & Luna Jax – Back To You | Soft Rock
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 January 2017.
Luna Jax and 4everfreebrony teaming up is a pretty awesome combination! With Jax’s strong vocals and a really nice instrumental it starts up brilliantly. 4everfreebrony’s vocals come in later on, and work just as well. A pretty soft and relaxing track, it wonderfully tells the story of Celestia and Luna’s reunion after Luna’s banishment to the moon ended.
Crusader! ft. Wubcake – Legend of Everfree (covering Daniel Ingram) | Acoustic Rock
Cute ukulele-driven rock song? You betcha; it’s the usual from Crusader!, teaming up with Wubcake again to turn this into a duet. It also features what seems to be Cru’s entire collection of musical instruments, from ukulele to electric guitar to melodica (not harmonica!), with solid mixing so you can hear every single one crystal clear.
[P@D] DJT & iblank2apples – Sweeter Than This (ft. Wootmaster) | Drum & Bass
Well here we go, time to start posting the P@D: Amity tracks! Feels like it’s been a while since I heard this style of dnb, which reminds me of some stuff by the likes of Pendulum and Muzzy, and who better to present it to us than DJT and iblank2apples? And as an added bonus, Woot drops some sweet bars along to the track too. A phenomenal opening track to Amity.
TheMusicReborn ft. Foxy Lee – Button’s Mom (covering P1K) | Jazz
I…wasn’t quite expecting this to pop up on my radar! TheMusicReborn decided to take P1K’s classic in a very different style from both the original and really anything else we see on a regular basis. It may or may not be your kind of thing, but definitely worth giving a shot for a fun little tongue-in-cheek cover.
FritzyBeat & NyxTheShield – Scootaloo’s Wings (covering JackleApp) | Acoustic
FritzyBeat is no stranger to beautiful vocal work and it shows in this wonderful cover of a JackleApp track, Scootaloo’s Wings. Fritzy is joined by an Undertale fan-music veteran, NyxTheShield, on guitar. It’s a wonderfully powerful rendition; the guitar strumming is smooth and expertly plucked with vocals perfectly layered atop. Fritzy’s vocals are considerably deeper and more drawn out than the original, and the guitar plucks from NyxTheShield more sharp too, making this track a treat even for those intimately familiar with the original.
Dynamite Grizzly – FEELIN’ HAUTE VIP | Tech-House
A new version of a classic from Dynamite Grizzly, sweep samples included at no extra charge. This release is in anticipation of the third of Dynamite’s techno EPs, entitled The Horses Really Like Techno, which you can expect to be full of techno-infused goodness like the above track. If you’re familiar with the last two, you might notice a certain theme going on with the titles…
Kawaii Dash – Flutterbump | Nu Disco
This new track from Xavi’s alter ego marks the first release of 2017 on the Shika No Mori Sound label – and it’s exactly what you’d expect from him. Whompy chords and tight percussion house beats. And Fluttershy vocal samples, of course, it’s Xavi.
Francis Vace – Hope Shines Eternal (covering Daniel Ingram) | Reggae
Part of his recent Everfree EP, Francis Vace has covered the ending credits song from Legend of Everfree in a reggae style, something we only see on occasion. The style really fits the song though, and has a nice blend of reggae with Francis’ signature ska style too.
