ThisSideOfOblivion presents us a remix of a classic from 2013, Open Your Eyes from Aviators. With a solid rearrangement bringing drums, strings, and even delightful sax, it doesn’t fail to pay tribute to the original in a chill yet intricate way!
Year: 2017
Daniel Ingram – Best Friends Until the End of Time (Royalpony Remix) | Hardstyle
S7’s first song continues to inspire, with Royalpony delivering his traditional Hardstyle spin on it. With the original melody played with a stylish and uplifting synth, and the inclusion of new samples, it makes for quite the happy party track!
Nicolas Dominique – Crossing | Ambient
Nicolas Dominique has never been a stranger to good ambient. Dark and mysterious, this track will take you on a journey with Twilight and Spike, as they explore a highly urbanized city. As with all of his music, there is a wonderful flow to it with sounds coming in like waves. A simple yet lovely melody and a very powerful and deep drone synth in the background. This track is an ambient lover’s dream.
StrachAttack – SHAPESHFTR | Hybrid Glitch Hop
New Chrysalis-scented StrachAttack banger, everypony!! Second track of the recently released Burnout EP, this new VIP of the classic Shapeshifter deserved a labeling as an original, as it redesigns the whole track with new sound design and progression and comes up with original ways to blend genres, while keeping the melodies and original concept. Never has our bug queen sounded (and looked) so sexy! Also props for the amazing visuals!
Frozen Night – Everfree Forest Board | Soundtrack
Frozen Night presents us a forest map BGM from a never-released pony fan game and from 2013, and it has those delightful “wooden” plucks and such choices of instruments that are so reminding of many forest map BGMs I’ve heard in my J-RPGs. There is also another field BGM from the musician that comes along it, and it’s for the Crystal Empire, check it out!
Filly in the Box – One Leg Jump | Chill Dubstep
Filly in the Box delights once again with a deep and dark track filled with awesome sound design and pony vocal chops! Heavy yet chill, it brings a slick mood and atmosphere, with even subtle Reggae vibes! Another one in the streak of the musician’s tasty releases.
Arkineer – What’n Town Nation | Soundtrack
Arkineer, formerly known as Senjan, is back with a new OST piece he made for the fan game Adventure of the Lunarbolts, and this time it’s a remix of one of the BGM tracks from the show, Applejack’s Speech! Giving a wonderful new life to the amazing track by beloved composer William Anderson, the remix could be considered a spiritual successor to InfinityDash’s BGM remixes from 6 years ago, and doesn’t fail to pay tribute to the lovely melodies of the original, with an awesome new accompaniment and progression. Long live OST!
SDreamExplorerS – The Weaver of Time | Melodic Death Metal
It’s time for awesome MeloDeath, courtesy of SDreamExplorerS aka Soul Strings! This time made in tribute to the epic comic Timey Wimey and the first track of the upcoming album Erasing the Enigma, the heavy and blissful song delivers fast drums, gritty riffs and wonderful guitar melodies reminding of bands like Children of Bodom, along a storytelling and awesome vocals reminding of bands like In Flames, for a deeply enjoyable and emotional result. May the gods of time bless SDreamExplorerS, for he makes timeless masterpieces!
Jyc Row – The Final Showdown | Orchestral
An epic orchestral track depicting a battle between Twilight and Tirek. Jyc Row bring us this amazing piece which perfectly embodies the moment. Filled with strings, percussion, epic drums, brass, and obligatory choir, the track truly packs a punch. On top of all of this, a beautiful vocal brings it all together in a true masterpiece.
Daniel Ingram – The Spectacle (Daydream Anatomy Remix) | Electro House
One of the musicians who were featured in the awesome compilation album No Fun Allowed from the /mlp/ board, Daydream Anatomy presents us a new remix of a show song, one that personally moved me a lot along with its episode : The Spectacle from The Mane Attraction. With high hopes of a second /mlp/ Plays album, I appreciate the nostalgic and emotional callback to the original with its melodies now accompanied by Electro House beats and bass, and piano breaks paying further tribute to them. Time for the show!
