I think it’s been a while since we posted something from Wanderlust! PSFMer has, once again, explored a more niche electronic subgenre; this time he for us some drumfunk, a type of drum & bass music that tends to highlight the complexity and nuance of sampled classic funk drum grooves. This beat only needs a relatively sparse arrangement on top of it to sound complete, and when paired with solemn spoken word from Twilight creates a wonderfully atmospheric vibe!

EveryDayDashie – Pipp Petals | Pop
she’s smol
Dashie continues their relentless train of music releases with this poptastic danceable song about the littlest G5 pony princess! As one commenter noted, it definitely has a kinda dancercise feel about it; just imagine Pipp leading you in a group session as you shake your tail along to this beat.
Thrack – Revenge Acoustic (Feat. Canto Acrylic) | Acoustic
An acoustic version of a song is a great way to put a different spin on a song, and why not get a friend involved too while you’re at it? Here Thrack employs the talents of Canto Acrylic to make an unplugged cover of his most popular song, calling back to their performance of it at HarmonyCon earlier this year. This version of Revenge sits in the same folky style that Thrack has made his own recently, and has some nice harmony in the chorus as the two singer duet.
Top 10 Brony Songs of May 2023
It’s Top 10 time again! As always there’s a great mix of fan-picked faves from last month from both longstanding brony musicians and I spy a(n almost) brand new one in there too! Check it out to see who placed on the roster.
Cyril the Wolf – Millennium Alone (feat. Drummershy) [2023 Version] | Rock
Cyril the Wolf decided to make an updated version of what I believe is his first pony song ever, Millennium Alone, original made in 2011. The track begins with the beautiful playing of acoustic guitar, with the strings melting in, continuing to build with the addition of electric guitars before bursting into a full rock arrangement! The lyrics are Luna-centric with beautiful turns of phrase like “moving tides as she wept”, and Cyril’s vocal performance is phenomenal, flowing smoothly in and out of falsetto, showing off an incredible range. Absolutely splendid!
Blurain – Overthrown (Continuation) | Alternative / Metal
You ever just need a 4-chord banger in drop C# tuning? Blu’s got you covered! He’s been pumping out song after song lately and this one takes a turn towards the heavier side with the occasional djenty bit and harsh vocals. Plus it’s a Thorax song – not the most common character to reference so it’s a nice rare gem in that sense!
Nexgen & Namii – LESSONS//LEARNED | Hip-Hop / Rap
Not only are we treated to the popstar ever herself on this song, but she’s brought a couple of old-school players back into the game. Nexgen duets with Namii, dropping bars about the weight of Twilight’s immortality and the pain of outliving loved ones, and the beat was produced by Vinyl.rawr! Go check out this joint effort of some longstanding icons of the brony music scene!
JayB vs. Fluttershy – I Love Everything (Nicolas Dominique Remix) | Trance
After seeing that his original remix has already been some time ago Nicolas Dominique decided to redo his remix and now presents us with this amazing new version. The track is packed with trance fire from front to back and Fluttershy vocals are always a joy!
EveryDayDashie – Roadtrip to the Maretime Bay | Folk / Country
As a little entry to the month of May, EveryDayDashie has composed this lovely piece, bringing the calm and relaxing energy and lots of Violin power from Dashie himself! This track feels like a lovely breeze, running across your face. I definitely recommend having a good listen, especially while travelling through endless fields of green!
Koron Korak – Keys of the Past | Piano Orchestral
Today Koron Korak brings us this lovely yet somber piece, meant as a tribute and to show how much family and friends can help through sadness. This track shines with its mournful strings and deep piano melody, the whole thing bringing across this deep sadness. I definitely recommend listening to this but have some tissues on hand.
