UndreamedPanic and loophoof – Pony Lady | House

After a year in the works, UndreamedPanic and loophoof have just released an intensely catchy electro track with plenty of bouncy synth chords and vocal chops from the show, including a perfectly timed “Whee!” from Pinkie just before the second drop. One of the chops shows Rarity singing “lady”, fitting perfectly as part of the song’s title. Closing off with a piano riff that fades out as time goes on, this song is everything you could ask for in an electro song!

Steryotype – ThruMyHead | Lo-Fi

Not long after releasing his Lofi Pon EP, Steryotype’s already got another one on the horizon: the ’03 Mini EP, which this track is a part of. As we’ve come to expect from the fandom’s emerging lo-fi scene, this song features the typical elements of a good lo-fi track, particularly the usage of old samples interpolated and edited over a modern hip-hop style drum beat. It hits in all the right places and feels perfect to relax to under a blanket, especially in this weather. ’03 Mini EP will be released soon, so look forward to that!

4everfreebrony – I Don’t Complain (Covering Luna Jax) | Soft Rock

4everfreebrony always seems to nail covers, and this one is no exception. Track 11 from Copycat is a cover of the Luna Jax original; 4efb’s take shows a bit more polish in terms of production, and runs at a slightly slower tempo. The guitars are soft yet rich, with the inclusion of a slide between the first chorus and second verse. His voice is perfect for this type of music, perfectly conveying Big Mac’s attitude towards his daily regimes. Once again, we have another piece of blissful rock!

[P@D] fractilx – Ultimate Uproar | Tech Trance

If there was an award for catchiest song on Ponies at Dawn: Eternal, this would easily appear in the top 3. The 41st track see’s fractilx’s first appearance on the P@D catalogue since 2018’s Rebirth, and what a comeback it is. This song wastes no time getting started, giving us only an uplifting pad and glitchy drum samples before jumping right in. What follows is an intensely catchy trance track based around Spike yelling “NOOOOOO” alongside plenty of other vocal samples pulled from various other sources. Quick, bouncy and filled to the brim with samples, you’ll have a hard time getting this one out of your head.

[Music for the Headless Horse III] Cynifree – Blank Slate | Midtempo

Nightmare Night is over, yet the scares never end. Track 4 from Music for the Headless Horse III, Cynifree showcases their electronic wizardry with a creepy midtempo track based on Story of the Blanks! Joined by the low whirling bass is a creepy synthline that just screams “danger”, representing the game’s town full of blank flanks perfectly. The perfect soundtrack to running away from a dark forest.

Feryl DeMarco – When Nothing Matters | Downtempo

Feryl DeMarco just keeps pumping tracks out! This one oozes electronic goodness, like it was plucked straight out of a movie or game soundtrack. The drums are powerful yet not overbearing and gives all the other elements – such as the soft and brooding synths and plenty of glitches to go around – to breathe. With the rate at which DeMarco’s uploading and creating new music, I think we can expect nothing but greatness in 2020!

Vylet Pony – The Magic Show | Pop

We’ve got ourselves a treat here. Track 19 from the upcoming Queen of Misfits is a 10 minute long three-part pop track revolved around Trixie’s desire to be the center of attention, while also hiding her anxieties behind a metaphorical mask. On Your Knees is laid-back and features soft, glitzy synths alongside a simple yet powerful beat and Vylet’s beautiful voice. After fading out, the song transitions into an 80s inspired interlude with a piano and string combination, before jumping into The Moment, an uptempo segment reminiscent of early-mid 2000s trance. Seamlessly transitioning into the final segment, Thrill of the Fight, we hear more of Vylet’s typical style that comes full circle with its lyrical themes, borrowing the hook from On Your Knees and closing out with a synth solo and the familiar piano and string combo from earlier before fading out naturally. Queen of Misfits comes out on Hearth’s Warming Day, so be on the look out!

Djohn Mema & SlightlyAmiss – From Dreams to Nightmares | Metalcore

The dream team of Djohn Mema and SlightlyAmiss is back once again with an instrumental, finally being released after 2 years on the backburner. Inspired by the princess of the night herself, the song is split into two halves, a relatively peaceful yet heavy section with a lead riff that takes the forefront, before transitioning into the second half, a much more mournful feeling segment before ending with a string and piano combo that goes back to being calm. You don’t always need words to tell a story, and songs like this show why.
