This was a nice surprise to hear on Amity – not just the fact that Silva Hound got involved with Ponies At Dawn, but released a future bass track for the first time in years. This remix of Peppermint, from the previous P@D album, keeps the uplifting futurey feel of the original, but sits at the more trap-influenced end of the future bass spectrum, with those classic 808 kicks and snares.

[P@D] bank pain & Thrasher – Searchlights Over Canterlot | Metal Neurofunk
Pendulum meets Noisia anyone? Or perhaps something straight from an album by The Qemists (thanks Sky Runner for reminding me about them!) This contribution to Amity comes from the producers of two of my favourite songs from the last P@D album. Thrasher’s used to combining metal guitars and electronic sounds, but this might be a first for bank – nonetheless the blend of metal and dnb is seamless. I hope we get to see more of this kind of thing from these two artists in the future!
Voting for the Top Ten Pony Songs of January Begins!
Although the PMAs are still in the works, and the Top 25 of 2016 has been scrapped, the Top Ten Pony Songs of January 2016 is now open for voting. At least there might be less confusion between the events… You can check out all the songs released in January here, and fill in the voting form here. Don’t forget, there have been plenty of songs from Amity released this month!
Vylet & Sylver – Nurture | Chillout
Some very downtempo music now from Vylet and Sylver’s recent EP, Lotus. Plenty of mellow sounds with piano, ukulele, guitar and more V I B E S than ever before – I guess that’s to be expected when combining two such skilled musicians.
[P@D] ExplodingPonyToast, ThatMusicBrony & LutariFan – Start Again (Filly in the Box Remix) | Electronic
The remixes of Start Again seem to keep on coming… Here’s one by Filly in the Box that takes a sorta midtempo approach with harsh saws and the like in the drop.
Horse Music Hotspot – January 2017

Hey, so, sorry we weren’t able to let you know about this in advance of the live airing, but we have a new timeslot for the Horse Music Hotspot. It’ll still air on the last Sunday of each month, but at 9pm UTC (4pm EST) instead of 10pm EST – perhaps a much more accessible time of day for most of you.
New Year, new Ponies at Dawn album (yes, already!), from which we feature a few tracks this month, but with plenty of other music from various artists too! Now with seemingly more dnb than ever before, and some fantastic collaborations and remixes.
To listen in live, tune in to Ponyville FM at 4PM Eastern on the last Sunday of each month!
Tracklist and embeds available after the break
Happy Birthday to…us?!

27 January 2016. That was the day we officially launched this website. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year already and how much we’ve done in that time.
Since launching we have covered…
- 1415 solo songs
- 18 individual albums
- 14 compilation albums
- 25 EPs
Fun facts: this means that, on average, we’ve posted almost 4 songs per day, a compilation album is released once every 26 days, and artists release individual albums or EPs every 8 days!
I wanted to say thanks to all of you who’ve believed in and supported us over the past year – here’s to another year of music!
Thanks to all our affiliates and friends (who we should perhaps affiliate with) for sharing the love with us.
And a special thanks to the rest of the team: Francis, EPT, Makenshi, Intersekt, hackd, Xavi, Gunz, and more recently NeverLastStanding, and all our guest writers who have contributed. This wouldn’t have been possible without you guys.

[P@D] bank pain – Empire Past (Hay Tea Remix) / Del Rom – Ignition (Hydra Remix) | Drum & Bass
Double post of remixes combining neurofunk and liquid woooo! There have been so many Empire Past remixes recently…and with good reason, the original is a tuuuuuune. This one from Hay Tea goes a lot more into neurofunk territory that his signature liquid style, sampling the original’s basses and slicing up drum beats on top of it. The addition of a half-time section later on with those reeses works a treat in my opinion
[P@D] Thrasher – Orbit (Brilliant Venture Remix) | Metalstep
Thrasher’s song Orbit from the last P@D album was already one of my favourites, Vylet’s vocal edit was great too. And we’re keeping that train of production rolling with Brilliant Venture’s Remix, which combines the awesome guitar riffs of the original with Brill’s (somewhat) newfound sound design skills. Two different paces too – full time breakbeat for the first drop and half time dubstep in the second – always a decent little switchup for any ~140bpm song.
Ataraxia & Intersekt – Viridescent ft. Ink Sparks | Electronic
This new song from Ataraxia sees him collaborate with Intersekt and Ink Sparks to produce this wonderfully cinematic piece combining many electronica influences with orchestral elements. And what a voice Ink Sparks brings to this piece too, this is the first song I’ve heard that features her, and hopefully far from the last!
This track is part of an upcoming album from Ataraxia, entitled eternal perfect motion. Still in the works, it’s due to be released next month, and is available to pre-order on Bandcamp (with a tracklist that’s subject to change).
