I’m not really sure what this song is about beyond RPGs and dice rolls, but there’s a fun electronic and rock hybrid instrumental and plenty of crazy Russian vocals. Plus it comes with a neat typographic video full of ponies, which is pretty cool too.
It’s been a while since I’ve heard anything from SlightlyAmiss, but it definitely sounds like he’s improved! Coming together with a nice lyric video is a great pop rock tune about Rainbow Dash, the highlight is definitely the catchy and thoroughly enjoyable chorus that has some terrific vocal melodies ably supported by a neat guitar solo.
After his recent(ish) release from the latest Horse Music Central album, Brohoof Studios has made a song in another genre that I never knew existed until now. This Sombra themed track seems to combine elements from hardcore, trance, and hardstyle to make a neat drop that thumps hard with a rolling bass.
Faulty continues to nail that Archie-style house formula, with this awesome track based on a character from P-Berry’s fanfic ‘Anywhere But Here’. Some nicely voiced lines from CadetRedShirt build into an upbeat and energetic yet slightly sad drop, which is really super catchy, and gets better second time around with a killer lead synth.
I think it’s pretty cool how different producers always have completely different interpretations and takes on songs from the show. We end up with some really unique covers and remixes, like this one from One Wing, which is a kinda downtempo housey synthpop…thing. I’m not sure to categorise it but it’s really melodic and chill!
Inspired by the pirates from the MLP Movie, we’ve got an awesome sea shanty-style rock tune from Crusader! that has some great energy to it. The vocals fit in well with the vibe of the instrumental, and it’s a suitable soundtrack to the characters.
If you ever wanted to hear a piece that portrays the story of Nightmare Moon in a beautiful way, then here it is! “The Longest Night” is a track in 5 parts, the distinct parts evoke emotions that fit well with the story of the rise and subsequent fall of Luna’s darker side. ThisSideOfOblivion has done an excellent job smoothly progressing this piece through its separate parts. If you are listening for the changes they are noticeable and match the setting very well, but if you are passively listening, the changes won’t be sudden or heavy enough to disrupt the experience. The balance is just right. Well done ThisSideOfOblivion, I’m eager for more!
Arturo makes some pretty killer glitch-influenced music, and this track has a whole heap of that, as it delves into intricate and deep soundscapes to confront some nightmares. It’s got some pretty awesome sound design throughout, with just enough melodic content to help drive the craziness.
I have been seriously enjoying ThatMusicReborn’s ‘Mythical 6’ series, and this new Fluttershy track is an awesome way to continue it! Featuring vocals from both himself and Faux Synder, the dual voices fit together terrifically, with the instrumental supporting them to help create a mystical feel to the piece.
4EverfreeBrony has teamed up with CookieSoupMusic to produce this awesome Rush-style rock tune! It’s been a while since any new material from Cookie, so this is super cool. It’s also a part of 4Everfree’s new 3-part EP about Sombra and the Crystal Ponies, which you can check out here.
