This new track from Xavi’s alter ego marks the first release of 2017 on the Shika No Mori Sound label – and it’s exactly what you’d expect from him. Whompy chords and tight percussion house beats. And Fluttershy vocal samples, of course, it’s Xavi.
Francis Vace – Hope Shines Eternal (covering Daniel Ingram) | Reggae
Part of his recent Everfree EP, Francis Vace has covered the ending credits song from Legend of Everfree in a reggae style, something we only see on occasion. The style really fits the song though, and has a nice blend of reggae with Francis’ signature ska style too.
Indie Notes – Waiting | Acoustic
Indie Notes is back after a very long time away from the music scene, and seemingly starting his channel afresh. However, he is preparing to release a brand new album in the coming days too, so don’t fret, there’s plenty of great stuff like this to come! Take a listen to this fantastic acoustic number about Spike – very mellow instrumentation and vocals with a nice little hook in the chorus and even a solo!
I am so ready for Indie’s album perhaps we might even do a full review…
Liquid Harmony – I Am Not A Monster | Piano Sonata
I find it interesting just how much music in the fandom is inspired by fanfiction, perhaps simply because it’s something I never got into myself. But anyway, go check out this lovely solo piano piece from Liquid Harmony.
DJ RedSky & New Reverian – Of Light and Wings | House
DJ RedSky and New Reverian have collaborated plenty of times in the past and this latest joint effort doesn’t disappoint. It contains a mixture of sounds and styles from both artists that work together great – in my eyes RedSky tends to use simple yet catchy synths which are plentiful in this, while Rev has a great flair for composition and melody. I hope these two keep collaborating in the future, their joint works are always a pleasure to listen to!
Foozogz – You And Me | Electro-Pop
It’s been a while since Fooz’s last original track…okay, last serious original track, but this is one that attendees of Pacific Ponycon might recognise. He premiered the track there and it’s now available for everyone to hear, and to experience the infinite hair attack.
Quicksilver – Ahuizotl | Rock/Metal
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 January 2016.
Quicksilver’s nailed it here with a heavy and enthralling instrumental track about Ahuizotl. With some great guitar work pulling off some nice melodies and some solid drums backing it up, it’s a bit different to have something from him without vocals, but it definitely still works well.
Daniel Ingram – A Changeling Can Change (JoinedTheHerd Remix) | Electro House
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 January 2017.
Spike’s song from the last season gets some more love with a new remix from JoinedTheHerd! Featuring some pretty great vocal chops, and strong use of the vocals, this is a pretty upbeat remix and uses the main progression in a great way during the ‘drop’ part of the track. Make sure to check it out below if you’re a fan of JTH’s remixes, because this one’s another quality piece to add to the collection!
Homage McGee – Alone | Electro-Pop
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 January 2017.
Hot off the heels of his last groovy release, Disco Girl, Homage returns with an awesome follow up in the form of Alone. This track instantly hits with a funky groove to it, and some cleverly programmed vocal chops. That continues throughout the track, which whilst carried by the generally ever-present vocals, also has great old-school feeling synth usage.
Note: Since the original video got deleted, you may find the MP3 file of the song here.
Ponies At Dawn – Amity | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre
In a break from the usual pattern of albums released by Ponies At Dawn, this time round their latest release, Amity, contains exclusively collaborations and remixes of past P@D songs. As always, it contains a huge variety of songs, from artists both old and new across the fandom, all joined under one banner as part of a collective.
The album is available to download on Bandcamp for free, or any given donation price. You can also be sure to see the tracks on this album posted here on the site over the coming days and weeks, so stay tuned for our writeups on individual tracks!
