BL1NKY – Dystopia | Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 28 December 2016.

BL1NKY has been around the music scene for a while, previously going under the alias Core-Ridor and appearing on a couple of the Balloon Party albums and more recently having appeared on a couple of the Ponies at Dawn ones. He’s been a bit silent recently, but he’s back with a chilled out neuro-style dubstep track. The intro and break are pretty relaxed, whilst the drops are relatively mellow too and focus more on some cool neuro design than the heavy wubs you might expect. Make sure to check it out below for a pretty neat track!

Friendship Symphonies – A War Yet To Come | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 December 2016.

After a few collaborations between Cainbow Rrash and one half of A Symphony of Two, here now comes a completely different style of orchestral, produced by Cainbow alongside the full double of ASoT. Compared to their relatively light tracks, this piece is heavy, strong, and powerful as it steadily grows more epic over time. Inspired by the feel given off by a lot of Hans Zimmer’s music, the epic nature absolutely brings this across. The foreboding atmosphere perfectly represents the impending march of the Changelings, and this is certainly one of my favourite collaborations these guys have done so far.

Quicksilver – Cake Drunk | Punk Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 27 December 2016.

Quicksilver is back with another new fun heavy punk rock track that focuses on another silly topic, having already explored others such as socks and celestia’s presence in his washing machine earlier this year. This track focuses on Celestia’s totally-not-an-addiction to… dessert? It’s a pretty fun thing to sing about and it definitely comes across that Quicksilver had some fun with this.

WoodLore – My Sweet Peace (Jyc Row Remix) | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 23 December 2016.

My Sweet Peace is one of WoodLore’s most celebrated tracks, and here Jyc Row has taken it and turned it into an orchestral epic. 6 minutes in length, it builds through the vocals and some well placed orchestral elements, giving way to some more powerful vocal sounds and strings, and that trademark celtic feel of Jyc’s tracks. A really awesome reinterpretation, it’s definitely worth giving a listen!

Exiark & Flittzy – Another Star | Dubstep

HOLY MOLY I WASN’T PREPARED FOR THIS. *ahem* A pleasant surprise to find in my subscription box, Exiark got Flittzy on board with vocals for his latest song, from an upcoming album (seemingly entirely about Luna)! Flittzy’s unique vocals and Exiark’s outstanding sound design and mixing go beautifully together in this deep, and melodically interesting dubstep track.

Maressey – There is a Light That Never Goes Out | Indie

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 December 2016.

One of the coolest fandom music projects is back! Maressey is an ambitious project that aims to produce high quality pony-focused tributes to The Smiths. They’ve just released their 4th album, The Brony Album, which focuses on a lot of fandom related things, such as EQD, Bronycon, Rule 34 and Cosplay. This track, featuring amazing vocals from AdamTh3Walker, a strong instrumental from Johnny Mare and mixing from project-head Freewave, deals with the after effects of the eventual ending on the show, whenever it may be. Make sure to check it out for a really strongly produced track about a poignant topic of conversation.

Direct Current – Seeking Forgiveness | Chillout

Oops I’m a bit late with this oh well Direct Current has a new EP in the works, which means it’s time for more music from him! His style is great at combining ambient and chill sounds, and really making a varied soundscape with them in such a short space of time, telling a real story as the song progresses.
