StringStorm – Chrysalis’ Theme: Panic Harvest | Industrial Dubstep

Wasn’t expecting this from StringStorm, but I’ll definitely take it! It seems a group is undertaking the monumental project of reviving Fighting is Magic, the pony-themed fighting (never!) game. Somewhere along the way, StringStorm got involved and made this theme for Chrysalis. In a style combining industrial and dubstep. Nice.

Reverbrony – Out Of Time | Progressive Rock

It’s interesting to see commissioned songs by certain artists; in my opinion it presents them with a chance to take on a theme or perhaps genre they normally wouldn’t have considered on their own. Here we have something commissioned to Reverbrony with the theme of time running out incorporated both into the theme and the soundscape of the song. And that bass tone is fantastic too, great production as always from Reverbrony!

Daniel Ingram – The Spectacle (GeekBrony Remix) | Bounce

It’s great to see Geekbrony back with some more music, and trying his hand at show song remixes. His production quality has reached new heights with this bounce remix of The Spectacle, a genre I’m not normally a huge fan of but this track is quality!

4everfreebrony – My Only Friends | Acoustic Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 December 2016.

Released just in time for Luna day, 4everfreebrony brings us a new track from his recently published album, Hoping. Featuring some really pretty acoustic guitar work, and 4everfree’s signature strong vocal performance, this is definitely one of my favourite songs from the album. Make sure to check it out for some solemn music to help you celebrate the princess of the night!

Flittzy – More To Me | Tropical House / Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 December 2016.

Flittzy returns with another upbeat pop-y track. Featuring some pretty nice vocals and a bright tropical house-influenced instrumental, it’s great to see a new piece from him. Carried throughout by some piano, some really nice synth melodies help to complement the vocals. Make sure to check it out below for some tropical pop released just in time for Luna Day!

Ponytronic – Near Clear Skies (Sky Runner Remix) | Drum & Bass

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 19 December 2016.

The dnb crew have been on fire recently! The second of today’s features to include Sky Runner is a remix of Ponytronic’s track Near Clear Skies. This one is a lot more traditional d&b in style than the earlier post, though with some cool chord modulation in the second half.

Hay Tea & Sky Runner – Final Battle | Chiptune Drum & Bass

NB: This is an edited version of what was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 19 December 2016.

The drum & bass never stops! Here’s one from Sky Runner, collaborating with Hay Tea to produce a fusion of drum & bass with chiptune. Some of the chip sounds are a little on the harsh side, but it mixes really well with the other electronic elements to create something I’d totally dig as final boss music.

Daniel Ingram – Midnight In Me (bank pain Remix) | Melodic Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 18 December 2016.

bank pain is back at it again, with this remix of Equestria Girls song, Midnight In Me. Whilst this came out on his soundcloud a couple of months ago, it only just reached YouTube, and it’s definitely been worth the wait! Probably one of the strongest remixes I’ve heard of this (and any other) track from EQG4, he’s taken on the multiple different tempos of the original with much success, and a combination of some strong percussion and great sound design help to complement the vocals wonderfully, with some really awesome use of the melody too.

Ponysphere – Desperate Housewife (feat. Secret Metal) | Heavy Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 December 2016.

Man, some of these metal artists like to push the envelope a little with what they write their songs about, but if you’re okay with highly suggestive lyricism, then the production on show here is highly worth listening to. Ponysphere and Secret Metal are two of the best metal musicians in the fandom, and showcase this hear with some awesome heavy guitar riffs and aggressive vocals, all mixed pretty cleanly.

LoadedELEMENTS & New Reverian – Red | Drumstep

An old project brought back to life, this collab takes inspiration from the well-known fanfiction University Days. It takes a more melodic drumstep approach rather than a bass heavy focus, it adds in some of Reverian’s orchestral elements too.
