4EverfreeBrony – 1 Brony, 28 Fandom Voices | Acapella

Something mighty impressive even from famous pony musician and singer 4EverfreeBrony, this right here will be pretty interesting especially to those who are familiar with this community’s many singers and talents. Covering parts of songs and vocal styles from no less than 28 pony singers, 4EverfreeBrony doesn’t fail to amaze and it certainly made me smile so much as I recognized songs and vocal styles from so many of my beloved pony singers, re-enacted like this. Awesome job 4EverfreeBrony!

Francis Vace – Legend You Were Meant To Be (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Rock

Off the Everfree EP, Francis Vace’s cover of the closing song from Legend of Everfree pays much tribute to the Rainbooms’ live performance of the song, in the unique musical style that we love to hear from the talented Ska-Punk musician. Not lacking of enjoyable Ska vibes in some of the vocal parts, the cover also lays out powerful guitar play as we rediscover the Rainbooms’ latest record in newfound rock spirit.

TheMusicReborn – Pinkie’s Brew (Covering Griffin Lewis & Jenny Nicholson) | Trumpet

Forever a classic, the goldie oldie Pinkie’s Brew gets a remastered trumpet cover from TheMusicReborn, and it is definitely much welcomed! Partake in nostalgia or newfound appreciation as the original melodies lay out in a masterful trumpet arrangement, complete with a much gypsy-like instrumental accompaniment!

This time taking on the emotional I’ll Fly, MetalPony delivers an awesome and rocking cover full of powerful guitar riffs and lovely vocals, and with drums empowered by Djohn Mema. A wonderful take on the memorable song that moved the community and inspired so many pony musicians!

Daniel Ingram – You’ll Play Your Part (Elias Frost Swedish Cover) | Folk Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 March 2017.

You’ll Play Your Part is one of my favourite songs from the show, and Elias Frost has done it up in a pretty awesome way! With Swedish vocals, and a terrific build throughout the piece, this is certainly an awesome rendition. Starting out pretty soft and folk-sounding, it steadily gets more metal through the piece, as Elias’ voice helps to build the tension too. The breakdown at 2:35 when it all comes together is especially gratifying.

Tina & Damien – Mon Éclat ~ My Cadence (Covering Matthew Mosier) | Acoustic Pop

We don’t often get a quality French Cover of a brony song that’s for sure, so this right here is an awesome surprise! Damien, who was once known as the very promising pony musician Selenys, is back and teamed up with Tina to bring us an amazing French Cover of My Cadence from Matthew Mosier and originally having Megaphoric and ismBoF providing the duet. This new duet not only shines with beautiful vocal work from both singers, but it also features brand new lyrics to fit with the love song in French, and not just a literal translation of the original lyrics! It’s definitely adding a much enjoyable creative aspect to the cover for me. Here’s hoping for more releases from them!

Elias Frost – Midnight Frenzy (covering Duo Cartoonist) | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 February 2017.

Something I didn’t expect to see, but am definitely happy to hear! Shifting away from his usual fare of show song covers, Elias Frost delivers a cover of the piece recently put out by Duo Cartoonist. It’s decidedly heavier, with a pretty metal atmosphere and some growl-y tones to some of the vocals, but the traditionally sung chorus is where this shines the most for me, as it works brilliantly with Elias’ voice.

Horse Music Hotspot – February 2017

The Horse Music Hotspot is one year old this month! 🎉🎉🎉

This month we saw an especially strong influx of quality rock and acoustic music, among some other non-electronic genres. While there’s still been plenty that (particularly good dnb), it’s a pleasure to see such a strong variety. Check out this month’s episode for a complete melange of genres!

Elias Frost – Celestia’s Ballad (covering Daniel Ingram) | Folk/Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 14 February 2017.

Elias Frost is back with another show cover, this time of Celestia’s Ballad. For the most part it’s a pretty chilled out and focuses on some soft instrumentation and Elias’ vocals, but it gets a bit metal towards the end where there’s an instrumental solo. The vocals here suit his voice really well, as whilst the original came across relatively motherly in tone, this certainly has a similarly fatherly feel to it.
