Posted on Halloween, it is the perfect mix of heavy electric guitar, traditional Halloween organ, and a deeper gothic-style vocal. The way Stable articulates the words has the perfect edge to make this song a truly creepy vibe, perfect for that darker Halloween theming.
Always an exciting name to see, Metal Core Pony returns to the scene with “Wildfire”, an emotional and personal track of break-up, regret, and subsequently looking forward for the chance of something better. MCP features plenty of signature guitar riffs to carry a lot of instrumental melody over a fast, rock instrumental reminiscent of the late 90s skate punk style. There are sudden shifts to soft, slow, acoustic sections creating a sense of looking back on worse times before going back into the fast, riff heavy parts to work through the anger and move forward. Wildfire is a fun and exciting hit from an old fandom name!
Last year the MareQuest game released, and one of its outstanding features was the music accompanying you on your journey to save Equestria. While the game and soundtrack had its quiet moments when traversing the lands, the threat of the Shadow Mares together with their more darker tunes was always accompanying you on your travels, and Filly Mingon is a perfect embodyment of this feeling. Starting slowly using the sounds of a keyboard, the sudden appearance of a heavy dub sound conveys what you and your companions are up against masterfully and makes the song a joy to listen to!
Algo at All has released another track that’ll make you fall in love with a background pony you may have forgotten. “lemons are nice” is a tribute to Lemon Hearts and makes full use of her vocal lines from the show, though the track is so much more than that! It features many synths all blended together, from basics sounds like square waves, wailing whistles, and bloops to form an adorable texture that will make your (lemon) heart melt! It also features other clever sounds like plucked strings and horse trotting for percussion. There’s just so many wonderful sounds that this track will have you listening on repeat to enjoy them all!
Wandering Artist brings us another piece of his Pony Town soundtrack. The calmly played piano, supported by a mix of subtle percussion instruments and later joining guitar brings a serene feeling to you reminiscent of the change in the landscape during autumn; a peaceful antipole to the sometimes turbulent weather. This song easily gets you into a sedated state of mind and is perfect for just chilling to it and enjoying the beauty of the seasons.
SpinScissor’s last release is about a song describing the feeling of nostalgia that we all faced at least once, and he decided to collab with Japkozjad for this new release! The song includes lyrics as well as the rhythm and drops that all relate to that feeling, attaching our most precious memories to it while hoping we could rewind time to live those moments again. “Pinkie’s (Last) Rave” (or DJ NeighGative_’s Giggles at the Ghosties Hard House Remix)—is another entry in his Hard House lineup. Like DJ NeighGative_’s other remixes, this one is a hard-hitting, bouncy track. That near middle section is what I thought was the most brilliant, creating some distance in the listening, before the drums transition into a quirky, instrumental break from the lyrics. Definitely an interesting and enjoyable take on one of the most classic show songs.
Nugget’s latest track, “Dreams” is a simple yet elegant lullaby. It opens with the quietness and calmness of just harp, layered in with some lovely cicada chirping before a flute joins in to form a duet. Towards the middle, it then flushes out with brass and strings to form a full and warm sound. It takes a bit of a darker turn towards the end before returning back to just harp and cicadas, completing the cycle. It fits the dream vibe perfectly and is a lovely piece to listen to on any evening.
Evershade always seems to be Patient Zero for the infections beats, and with their newest track “Starlight,” I’m catching this infection too. From the Latin-type rhythms on the piano, to the bouncy lyrics, this song has all the signature catchiness of a signature Evershade song. But what makes this track special is the chorus. That shift from the bouncy to the more soulful and softer piano drives this track as an emotional masterpiece.
