While Whirlwind is primarily known for his drumming skills in the fandom, he’s recently began making his way into original music by way of electronica. Flight is a chilled out ambient track that combines Rhodes style synths with erratic electronic drums, making it sound very much like an Aphex Twin song. Whirlwind has stated that it was based on a dream where he was flying with Rainbow Dash, and the song definitely gives off that vibe!

m2the3rd – Differently, A Derpy Song (feat. JustKat) | Soft Rock
Derpy’s one of the show’s most iconic and usually relatable characters. Differently is a song about Derpy’s struggles and overcoming them, featuring some adorable vocals from JustKat. The instrumentation is comprised of soft rock elements, including glitzy bells and acoustic chords, the song’s focus mainly being on JustKat’s voice and the bassline. A cute song just about being yourself!
Branrich VanIster – World In The Mirror | Soundtrack
Branrich VanIster returns with another instrumental composition, this one based on Equestria Girls. With that in mind, the track’s use of synthesised guitar, drums and piano give off heavy RPG game vibes, as if the main character’s just stumbled upon the school and is ready to get settled in on the first day, possibly meeting the mane 6 in the process. Sometimes you don’t need words to get out an optimistic feeling!
Canvas – Grow | Future Bass
Canvas returns with his first track of the year, as well as this decade’s first release on Basshoof Records. Grow is a unique and melancholy piece that combines softer and heavier elements. Juxtaposed between the catchy drums and future bass synths are soft ambient noises such as a piano, bells, sampled vocal chops and even the sound of birds chirping. Hybrid songs such as this make for great opportunities to incur such feelings.
Ardhy Mahardhy – Nightmare Rise | Progressive House
This track’s wonderful music blends House elements with energetic electronic music, as well as general epicness! There’s a lot to it- electronic music that gives off early 2010’s brony music vibes, instrumental bits throughout the track, and great transitions between the two, making it a really enjoyable and fun song!
Nexgen & Vinyl.rawr – Wonderful | Hip-Hop
Nexgen and Vinyl.rawr are back at it again. Wonderful is a slick hip-hop track that centres around a gospel choir sample while Nexgen spits hot, braggadocious bars while also making references to Tarby and Yelling At Cats at one point. It’s clear at this point that the duo’s chops are unbustable.
Branrich VanIstner – A Night With A Siren | Jazz/Lounge
Shall we turn out the lights? A Night With A Siren is a slow, sensual jazzy piece that feels like the ideal soundtrack for spending the night with your siren of choice. Accompanying the track is a visual of Adagio Dazzle slowly swaying in a dark room as a green fog surrounds her, almost as if it’s a byproduct of her siren allure. It’s not too often we see jazz in the fandom!
ShobieShy – Glim Shady | Hip-Hop
You might be disappointed if you were expecting a The Real Slim Shady parody, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t something worth listening to. Glim Shady is smooth hip-hop tune that showcases ShobieShy’s razor-sharp flow with light-hearted digs at other rappers in the fandom. What’s a little fun beef between a tight-knit community?
StrachAttack – Attack It VIP | Future House
The 2013 reworks just keep coming through, don’t they? Attack It VIP is a new version of StratchAttack’s track of the same name from 2013, rebuilt from the ground up. The production is a massive leap upwards from the original and sounds absolutely delightful to listen to. The synths are perfect for the style of music and fit with the new addition of vocal chops in the melody. It’s amazing how far he’s come!
MelodyBrony – Trixie (feat. Djohn Mema) | Post-Hardcore
MelodyBrony is a rising star in the MLP metal scene. Enlisting the help of Djohn Mema on vocals and PrinceWhateverer on production, Trixie is a truly hard-hitting track. The guitar riffs are simple yet effective, and the rhythm section is locked right in, especially during the breakdown towards the end. Mema’s vocals are powerful and show off his range when it comes to both clean and harsh vocals. Be sure to check out MB’s recently released debut EP, ORIGINS!
