Totalspark – Battlecry | Hybrid Trap
Just as epic as what the cover art by Fruitbloodmilkshake implies (personal share), Totalspark’s new release through Shika No Mori Sound enlightens the soul and the battle spirit as a real musical embodiment of a Battlecry. Blending Trap and Dubstep elements, it is displaying much strength and dedication, and achieving the scale of Equestrian battles with clean yet sick melodies and wubs over a breathtaking progression.
Technickel Pony – Sprite | Hip-Hop
Technickel Pony brings some smooth zebra vibes with this new instrumental Hip-Hop track Sprite, and it just makes me want to immerse myself in an setting deep inside the Everfree Forest where some of the underground musicians and rappers are at, celebrating joy and harmony around a campfire and with background music such as this track. Funky!
[P@D] CainbowRrash & A Symphony Of Two – To Find A Better Place | Orchestral
Those familiar with Friendship Symphonies have already heard CainbowRrash and A Symphony of Two, but this piece was the beginning of their collaboration, and a great end to the P@D Amity album. It begins with a tranquil wind section that slowly progresses as more instruments and harmonies are added, and finally resolves into my favorite section when the sax, and a lovely trumpet solo are introduced. You can actually see them recording this in the video! It’s an exploratory piece open to interpretation and doesn’t linger on one idea for too long. I definitely recommend checking it out!
FruityFusion – Endless | IDM / Breakcore / Drum & Bass / Experimental
FruityFusion treats us with a most delightful surprise, as this new track blends in many genres and pioneers in many directions. With a solid melodic body and a sweet progression over the course of experimental greatness, Endless is an outstanding track and I definitely wish for more of this!
Filly in the Box – Bad Ponies | Dubstep
Filly just keeps rolling out the new tracks it seems, keeping that sweet top-notch sound design. Check out this latest one if hors dubstep is your thing.
(Yep, I’m tired, short description is short)
[P@D] Plum Creek Rhythm Section – Handbag (covering Replacer) / Dashtortion – Through The Snow | Alt. Rock
Two more P@D songs for you today! First up is this rather mellow cover of Replacer’s song Handbag done by Plum Creek Rhythm Section – so a combination of two artists whose songs on the P@D albums are consistently some of my favourites. And the intro totally doesn’t remind me of The Pretender…
And to follow, a new track from Dashtortion, which isn’t actually a solo artist, but instead a collab between StealingShad3Z and SlightlyAmiss, whose work you may remember from the last P@D album. A bit more uptempo, but still relatively chill (haha see what I did there) song with Shining Armor / Cadence themed lyrics.
PegasYs – Colgate’s Family Dentistry VIP | Drumstep
“Y’know, for kids!” It seems Pega’s back with an old reworked track in celebration of 900 subscribers. The sound design in this track is very clean (haha, totally original joke), with an ever-changing soundscape and of course, the great unique chord progressions I’ve come to expect from PegasYs.
The Snatcher – A Fallen Star (ft. Marina) | Orchestral
This isn’t the first pony song from The Snatcher, but the last was almost 2 years ago, so I’d never heard of him until now! This song is based on a fanfiction called The Assasination of Twilight Sparkle, so no bonus points for guessing where the title comes from, but this song is a reward in itself. A 7-and-a -half minute epic with duet vocals from The Snatcher himself and someone simply known as Marina, it’s not every day you get something like this!
[P@D] Crusader & Mythos – Blast ‘Em / NeoN & Sonic Tap – Benevolence | Dubstep
Whoa hey double post time! Got a couple of late-night dubstep collab tracks from Amity for you. First up is this trapstep-like tune from Crusader (no, not that one) and Mythos; the most significant thing about this one being the switch up between half- and full-time drum patterns with ease. Also, I adore that siren-like sound at 1:07.
And second up, a more traditional dubstep track from NeoN and Sonic Tap, whose IRL friendship makes their collaboration a perfect fit for this album’s theme! Supersaws and growls aplenty, you could certainly consider this more melodic piece than the previous song.
