A Symphony of Two – A Surprising Duo | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 1 January 2017.

A Symphony of Two continue their prolific release schedule with a new track about the surprising duo of Spike and Thorax. Equal parts inquisitive and determined, the instrumental relies heavily on strongly emotive strings, but has some other familiar elements too.

Hay Tea – Defect | Drum & Bass

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 31 December 2016.

Good sampling, great drums, and some neat bass design from his friend Age Of Vinyl all combine to deliver a somewhat haunting yet energetic drum & bass tune from Hay Tea. He’s been on fire recently and that doesn’t stop here with some really neat music about sad Derpy.

WoodLore – The Learner’s Paradox | Acoustic

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 31 December 2016.

If you like WoodLore’s style, you’ll love this. Strongly focused on his trademark vocals, this piece shows them off in a great way. There’s some quality guitar-work as well as some uplifiting strings later in the track as it builds up towards the end. Make sure to check it out below for an awesome Starlight Glimmer-inspired tune!

[HMC] Trixent – Cookie Induced Zombification | Deathstep

The original info for the 2nd HMC album said that the theme was going to be ‘chill winter themed’…So while perhaps this doesn’t quite fit that description, it’s certainly shows that Trixent isn’t afraid to let loose and go full throttle on his production. Agressive basses ahoy, take a listen for some hard-hitting music!

[P@D] Homage McGee – Disco Girl (ft. SlightlyAmiss, ForeverFreest & SaxBrony) | Disco

YES! THIS GETS A YES FROM ME. One of the most unique tracks I’ve ever heard from a Ponies At Dawn album (this being from Voyager, not the upcoming Amity btw). It’s also great at bringing a load of different talents together – combining Amiss’ singing, Freest’s rapping, and a solo from SaxBrony, all brought together by Homage’s funky fresh production to create one of my favourites from Voyager, and from the entire P@D catalogue thus far.

Hearth’s Warming Music Compilation #2 (Yes, Another One!)

maxresdefault

So…there was still quite a lot a Heath’s Warming-themed music left after our compilation post from a week ago, so to save a bit of time (I’ll level with you, we’re quite far behind everything at the moment), have a few of them compiled into a single post! Catch the whole thing after the break…

Flutter Rex – Swarm is Coming | Industrial

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 29 December 2016.

Flutter Rex returns to the scene for the first time in a while with a track rooted in industrial design, though it feels like it has influences from all over the place, with a pretty glitchy procession of heavy and powerful sounds. If strong, aggressive industrial music is something you’re keen on, this is definitely something you’ll want to check out!

Radiarc – Another Day | Industrial Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 28 December 2016.

Radiarc is back with a new track, but this one is pretty different from his recent releases! With a much more experimental, and arguably mechanical vibe to it, the combination of glitchy sounds and eerie soundscapes and vocals help to make this a really captivating piece. Make sure to check it out below for something pretty awesome!

[HMC] Filly in the Box – Windigo | Dubstep

FitB’s unique style of dubstep always hits a good note with me. It kinda sound like a combination of sounds from both modern dubstep and trap, and the more minimalistic variety that I remember hearing around the late 00s, just as it was entering the mainstream. You can get this as part of HMC’s latest Winter-themed album too!

Wootmaster – Horse Christmas | Hip-Hop

The video was posted after we did our Hearth’s Warming Compilation, that’s why it wasn’t on there. Didn’t expect to see a hip-hop beat made from a toy store commercial, but hey, it works! Check out this (belated) special holiday song from Woot, it got good beats.
