syzygy. – Ain’t Scared | Riddim Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 13 December 2016.

Riddim-style dubstep isn’t really something we hear all that often in the fandom, so it’s cool to hear some new stuff in that style from syzygy., returning for his second feature. Defined as being more of a bouncy and wonky style of dubstep, this piece has some pretty neat oscillating sounds, and some classic arp-oriented builds as well as a pretty heavy snare that comes through really nicely.

UndreamedPanic – Cold | Electro House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 December 2016.

A new track from UndreamedPanic is always a welcome sight, and this one’s a bit heavier than his last release! With a powerful bassline and strong percussion coming in right away, it quickly builds up to a pretty cool drop focusing on a pretty cool lead sound. The middle section is a lot more chilled out before it goes back into the heavy stuff. Make sure to check it out below for  a pretty heavy electro track!

Mantlegen – Evil Magics | Hybrid Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 10 December 2016.

Mantlegen, when he gets it right, is one of my favourite producers in the fandom, and he shows why here with the release of his insanely zany, creative and strongly produced new EP, Evil Magics. All 3 tracks are well worth a listen, but the title track linked below takes the cake. It takes you on a journey through intelligently designed synths, powerful and cleanly produced dubstep sections and some pretty crazy interludes, with plenty of pony vocal samples cleverly included throughout in a pretty seamless fashion. Make sure to check it out below!

Seventh Element – Canterlot Insomnia | Future Garage

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 December 2016.

It feels like Seventh Element has been around forever, so it’s awesome to see that after all this time he’s still plugging away and releasing innovative and immersive new tunes. Canterlot Insomnia is the opening track of his upcoming concept album Fear Of Dark. If this is any indication, the album will be quite a journey. With an ambient intro full of dark overtones, excellent percussion and wonderful use of vocal sampling and auxiliary sounds help to mould a sinister and oppressive mood throughout.

Viricide Filly – Vanishing Point | House

Catch some surreal house grooves courtesy of Viricide Filly with this latest dream-inspired tune! Driven forward by a beat of kick drum and pumping synth, the track is also swathed in a thick layer of bass and heavily processed “Giggle at the Ghostly” vocal chops. If you’re hooked, be sure to subscribe to Viricde’s channel so you don’t miss out on her forthcoming album “Back From Reality”.

Donn DeVore – Come Bliss With Treezy | Indie Electro Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 10 December 2016.

Back after a bit of a period away from releasing stuff, Donn DeVore returns with a pretty cool track about Treehugger. Starting innocuously enough with a pretty fast drum beat, the vocals that make the track soon come in with some pretty great lyricism too. The combination of indie-style vocals and a fusion of rock and electronic instrumentals behind them makes for the kind of thing I haven’t heard much of recently in the fandom, and it’s well worth taking a listen to!

A new series of orchestral productions, A Symphony of Friendship is a series of collaborations between CainbowRrash and Tom, one half of A Symphony Of Two. This piece, Little Peeks focuses on the lighter side of Fallout Equestria character Little Pip. With a mix of flute, strings, oboe and more, this is definitely a pretty whimsical piece, and well worth a listen!

A new piece from 4everfree’s album Hoping featuring some vocals from FritzyBeat, Sun & Moon is a pretty relaxing piece that brings a pretty mellow tone with it. With a slight country vibe to it, this piece is carried by the wonderful vocals on show, but also features some very nice soft guitar and percussion, as well as some lovely piano-work too. Exiark – We Were (ft. FritzyBeat & CKibe) | Electro-Pop

NB: This was originaly posted on EQD on 7 December 2016.

Originally released as a part of Exiark’s incredible album Let There Be Light late last year, this track featuring vocals from Ckibe as Celestia and FritzyBeat as Discord has finally been released onto YouTube! An awesome combination of strong male and female vocals as well as some wonderful synth design from Exiark makes this a pretty awesome piece, and it goes to show that Exiark can make some pretty cool stuff that doesn’t just focus on bass design.
