Elias Frost – We Will Stand For Everfree (Cover) | Metal

There don’t seem to be as many songs related to the latest Equestria Girls movie yet, but luckily Elias Frost is here to put his own nordic metal spin onto things. (And if you stick around to the end you’ll hear a little surprise reprise)

Frozen Night – Fragile Existence | Orchestral Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 28 October 2016.

Frozen Night is back again with another remake of one of their older pieces, Fragile Existence. With a beautiful little piano and strings build up, epic drums start to hit 2 minutes in, instantly raising the impetus of the track. The rest of the instrumental also becomes a lot more epic, and the introduction of guitar helps to really complete the piece. If you want some epic orchestral metal, make sure to check this out!

[P@D] Reverbrony – Strut It | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 October 2016.

Bringing on the heaviness, Reverbrony is back with a powerful metal track that comes in hard right away. What I like most about this track though are those lead guitar melodies that add a bit more structure to the track, and are definitely the most memorable part to it. If you want some powerful metal to psyche you up, make sure to check it out!

[P@D] Dashtortion – Don’t Leave Me | Alt. Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 20 October 2016.

Dashtortion is the collaborative duo project between StealingShad3Z and SlightlyAmiss, and this track shows that they work very well together. With the instrumental handled by Amiss, and the vocalwork done by Shad3Z for this one, they combine wonderfully to give a pretty awesome sounding track! I especially like the increasingly desperate sounding tone of the vocals, which adds a strong sense of thematic progression to the track. Certainly worth checking out!

[P@D] Silver Note – Run | Alt. Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 October 2016.

Silver Note is one of the most vocally impressive rock musicians around the fandom in my opinion, and he makes great use of his vocals here in this track about Spike and Ember called Run. The guitars here also have a really nice tone to them, and there’s also a few subtle electronic elements that help to flesh out the piece. In recent times he’s achieved a relatively mainstream alt. rock / pop-rock sound, so if that’s your thing, this is absolutely worth checking out!

[P@D] Jyc Row, Francis Vace & Woodlore – Warriors of Griffonstone | Celtic Metal

And now, Jyc’s other track from Voyager. This one was a pretty cool collaboration – getting Francis on another track with the metal guitars, and Woodlore’s voice is so powerful it fits the genre very well (and the little acoustic bridge part means we get to hear him do his thing too!)

StealingShad3Z – Hearts by Moonlight | Soft Rock

Going back to the episode Luna Eclipsed from season 2, StealingShad3Z has done a soft, emo rock song based on said episode. Unrelated to his upcoming album, Marks of Monarchs (oh wait, that’s due today!), it’s intended as more of a Halloween song. Makes sense considering the episode it’s about.

MetalPony – Friendship Was Tragic | Pop-Punk

Time for some heavier pop-punk about Starlight Glimmer from MetalPony, even if it’s only a little piece it’s still pretty cool. Power chords and fast paced drums aplenty, with a few subtle tempo changes for a bit of variation.
