Toby treats us to a really nice surprise with this sequel to another track he previously made! Captain of the Wonderbolts was composed by building off of short riffs from background music of MLP episodes like “Wonderbolt Academy” and “Parental Glidance”. The track would fit right at home in any great RPG video game and is a very fitting tribute to the titular character, Spitfire. The track uses synths, horns, and a good rock beat to make the song fun and uplifting. The composition evokes images of great aerial feats and triumph just like the characters performed when we first heard the riffs from the show. Toby composes around the solid work so well, you can feel Spitfire soaring while listening this track!

[LDB] Lucas Gimeno – Our memories | Piano
Lucas Gimeno has a gift for writing sentimental, piano compositions and Our Memories is another wonderful example of his skill. Featured on the new Lycan Dese Beats album, the piece begins with a soft, beautiful intro, before picking up the energy. From there the song eases back into a nostalgic flow and really makes you feel the positivity in the happy memories Gimeno emphasizes. Our Memories is an excellent tribute to remembering good times with friends, so be sure to check out this song and all the others on the charity album!
PeKaNo – Starlight’s Redemption | Breakcore
ANOTHER STARLIGHT SONG, WOOHOO! And it’s breakcore, a genre we don’t see that much of too. This lovely song is about Starlight and her journey. It seems to be encapsulating the season 5 finale, beginning slowly and gently and progressively building more power and speed. From there, softer and more melodic elements enter, as Starlight realizes that she can forge new friendships.
[LDB] loophoof & NeverLastStanding – Have Here | Future Bass
NeverLastStanding and loophoof team up to craft this amazing song! From Pinkie’s perfectly chopped vocals to the upbeat, gleeful melodies permeating the whole song, Have Here is an absolute treasure. Pinkie’s enthusiasm is infectious: I couldn’t stop smiling the whole song long! It’s up for download on an album that’s pay-what-you-want, which you can get here.
BlueBrony – The Banishment of Luna | Orchestral
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 May 2018.
BlueBrony always seems to be able to weave lovely stories with his music when he puts his mind to it, and that’s absolutely the case here with a heartwrenching piece that covers the multitudes of emotions that are gone through in the classic tale of Celestia banishing Luna to the moon. No matter how often artists cover this story, I never seem to get tired of it.
StrachAttack – Button Smash VIP | Glitch Hop
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 May 2018.
Strach’s taken a classic tune and given it a new coat of paint with a VIP of Button Smash. It’s full of powerful wubs, and a nice glitch hop-y vibe to it all as well.
Daniel Ingram – One Small Thing (JoinedTheHerd Remix) | Electro
JoinedTheHerd’s newest song is a remix of one of the songs from the MLP Movie! He takes the already upbeat lyrics and adds a bouncy, uplifting beat. Pinkie and Skystar’s vocals carry that special exuberance they did in the movie itself, and herein they’re accentuated by the glorious melodies. JTH never disappoints, and this is no exception!
Elias Frost – Jaak-Jaaki Dance | Folk
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 May 2018.
I truly love when Elias Frost branches out into more folk-influenced stuff, especially when it comes in the form of new original tunes. This piece is inspired by the culture of the great yak race, and definitely sounds like it would represent them well. The woodwind instrumentation is enchanting, and the composition is superb.
Vylet Pony – Nowhere | Pop
NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 15 May 2018.
Vylet’s back with another track from his latest album, and this one is a super cool blend of intimate acoustic elements and some more electronic stuff too. His vocals are prominently involved in the emotions of the story being told, and it’s all a super cute time.
Synthis, 4EverfreeBrony & FritzyBeat – Cold (ertrii Remix) | Trance
Ertrii’s creativity is really on display with this new remix of an old collaboration between three well-established producers. This re-imagination of Cold stands out from the original given the big room feel of Ertrii’s progressive trance style and the modulation on FritzyBeat’s vocals, which sound like an entirely different professional singer. Simple and beautiful, be sure to check out this inventive take on an established hit!
