Midli & Techniponi – REVIVE | Hardcore / Chiptune
Chiptune and hardcore are 2 genres that often seem to work together, and I suppose that’s why Midli and Techniponi went for that in this collab. Although sounding a tad lacking in the synth design, it merits posting for its melodies and reminiscence to older fandom pieces.
Hay Tea – Audio Log | Drum & Bass
Another Fo:E inspired song, one of many we’ve seen since the series’ creation years ago, this new track from Hay Tea reminded me briefly of Princess Addictia’s Balefire, but perhaps that was just because of the theme and genre. Nonetheless, Hay Tea’s knack for making great liquid dnb has resulted in another great song from him!
GhostXb – Astrum Vs Krinita | Orchestral
We see songs inspired by other fandom works fairly often, but rarely do we have actual soundtracks to them! GhostXb (along with other musicians, I think including Direct Current) has been involved with the music for the upcoming fan-made game, Ambient.Prologue. This piece comes from the public beta version released last month.
Daniel Ingram – The Spectacle (Knife Pony Remix) | Electro House
Knife Pony appear to be moving on from their horse alias to something else, but they’re ending it with their aptly named ‘Finale’ album. This track is a banger of a remix of that dance tune ‘The Spectacle’ – it’s had quite a few remixes by now and this definitely stands amongst them as one of the clubbier ones.
Violin Melody – Shadows | Electro House
Inspired by the king of shadows himself, Sombra, this electro track from Violin Melody manages to combine solid synth design with some catchy melodies and subtle dark undertones – a track worthy of the inspiration source for sure!
Alexis Julemier – Ride On The Rainbow Wobble | Drum & Bass
Bringing me back a little to the DnB that used to be a lot more prominent in the fandom is this track from Alexis Julemier full of some really bright and happy melodies that really fit in with the Rainbow Dash persona. Sit back and enjoy the ride.
うすうすベア & KILXYU – YANDANCER (feat. Chase) | Gabber/Breakcore
fractilx brings together a couple of their aliases for something rather more dark than their usual offerings, with a super heavy hardcore track about Moondancer. I just love how they manipulate the vocal samples especially, really cool stuff.
Art Fonseca – Lights Over Canterlot | Jazz
I remember hearing some of Art’s music a couple of years ago, and I’m delighted to see them return to the fandom music scene once again. Just to have some new jazz is wonderful, let alone that this particular piece is absolutely fantastic! Definitely worth taking a listen whatever your taste in music.
Elias Frost – Lullaby for a Princess (covering Ponyphonic) | Gregorian Chant
We’ve seen a fair few acapella songs from the fandom, and plenty of covers of Lullaby for a Princess, but Gregorian chants are few and far between. Expect organs, pads, and a ton of reverb in Elias Frost’s take on the fandom classic.
