[P@D] Frozen Night – Through An Infinite Dreamscape | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 17 October 2016.

With such a bold track title, one would expect something pretty epic in scope, and here Frozen Night delivers upon that promise with a beautifully building orchestral track that first envelops the listener, before bringing in the strings, drums and other elements to really paint an engrossing picture. The way this piece builds and flows is really well done in my opinion, and it’s definitely worth a listen if you like epic-style orchestral works!

Saintz – Aphotic | Deep House

Everypony go give mighty cheers to Saintz for their first musical upload on their YouTube channel, and it sure is starting with a bang! This faith-imbued Deep House track definitely have a “holy” ring to it, with beautiful bells, heavenly chorus-like synths, and an original progression. Follow the artist for more greatness!

[P@D] Reverbrony – Strut It | Metal

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 24 October 2016.

Bringing on the heaviness, Reverbrony is back with a powerful metal track that comes in hard right away. What I like most about this track though are those lead guitar melodies that add a bit more structure to the track, and are definitely the most memorable part to it. If you want some powerful metal to psyche you up, make sure to check it out!

[P@D] Jastrian – Flutterscape / ExplodingPonyToast – Grey Horizon (ft. Itchigotchi) | Chillout

In his own words, Jastrian describes this song as “Flutterbound V2”, Flutterbound being one of his slightly older and one of his better known songs. And it certainly follows the same vibe, and even makes use of very similar vocal samples, albeit all at a slower pace.

The release of Voyager marked roughly a year since one of Ponies At Dawn’s previous iterations, Starlit Flames, from which this song sort of originates. EPT has taken samples from Morgsch and Itchigotchi’s Let The Sun Rise in order to make this chilled piece that has a noticeably darker, or at least more eerie feel than the original. And the artwork used certainly suggests that too!

‘Shy – Rainbow Falls | Melodic Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 23 October 2016.

‘Shy is fast becoming a regular here, with some pretty consistently enjoyable releases. Here they’ve tackled melodic dubstep, with a pretty upbeat  track about the Rainbow Falls. With some fun chords included throughout this track builds up pretty well to some high energy drops, that have some cool sound design, but mostly focus on the powerful chords that carry the track. Definitely worth checking out!

[P@D] Spectra – Nebula | Ambient

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 October 2016.

Spectra returns with the addition of a new genre to his repertoire, and one that in my opinion is difficult to pull off convincingly. This ambient piece builds steadily and enjoyably, culminating in a powerful all-encompassing pad-like sound, before it fades off into the distance. A really love arpeggiated melody and some great sound design choices help to make this a very pretty track, and well worth giving a listen to!

Trixent – Villains | Neuro Drum & Bass

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 22 October 2016.

With one of the heaviest tracks I’ve heard in recent times, Trixent continues to catch up for lost time with some of the coolest neuro sound design I’ve heard. All of their recent releases have really impressed me, and this is no different. With immaculate percussion, dark chord stabs, brooding pads and of course the beautifully designed bass sounds this is definitely worth checking out!

[P@D] Mantlegen – Free Fall Adventure | Electro House

I guess electro house is the best way to describe this, but that drop is something pretty unique. It seems to take some sort of influence from big room but maintains the lively mix of sounds that electro often brings to the table. So have whatever this is, Mantlegen’s solo contribution to Voyager.

CainbowRrash – Ping Timeout…Message Not Delivered | Orchestral

Ah, Fallout: Equestria, the source of many fan works past and many yet to come. I’ll avoid spoiling the inspiration behind this song, but it seems the moment from the story was particularly poignant for CainbowRrash, a new musician in the fandom. Get your fix of Fo:E inspired music for the day with this orchestral piece.
