Horse Music Hotspot – February 2017

The Horse Music Hotspot is one year old this month! 🎉🎉🎉
This month we saw an especially strong influx of quality rock and acoustic music, among some other non-electronic genres. While there’s still been plenty that (particularly good dnb), it’s a pleasure to see such a strong variety. Check out this month’s episode for a complete melange of genres!
To listen in live, tune in to Ponyville FM at 4PM Eastern on the last Sunday of each month!

(A belated) Hearts & Hooves Music Compilation!

Art by ACharmingPony. Because it’s been months since we posted any Taviscratch on Twitter!
In case some of you didn’t know, we’re very much behind on posting current music, so we thought one way to help us catch up would be to compile all the Hearts and Hooves music into one post for you to enjoy! Catch it all after the break…
NB: Some of these songs were originally posted on Equestria Daily by ExplodingPonyToast, with a note and link to the original posts where necessary.
DivinumX – Child of Starfall | Death Metal
DivinumX’s last pony-related song was released so long ago that it predates the creation of this site, so it seems this is their first ever feature here, but what an entrance to make, eh? I’m probably not qualified to comment on the technicalities of this track, but the constantly changing drum patterns and awesome solo sections are what catch my attention the most about this track. And even better, it’s a two-parter, so subscribe to DivinumX to keep an eye out for that future sequel!
Hay Tea & Sky Runner – Pink But Actually Red | Drum & Bass
These two make a great collaborative duo, their joint projects are fantastic dnb songs, and to have two artists that specialise in liquid work together is bound to ensure a solid track. Check it out for some nice smooth and chilled dnb.
Seeds of Kindness – A Change of Heart | Compilation Album | Multi-Genre
NB: The following a press release from Bronies For Good. The full release can also be read at this link.
Today is Hearts and Hooves Day / Valentines Day. It is traditionally speaking, a day for lovers, but it has the potential to be more. On Saturday, Bronies for Good’s seventh charity album, A Change of Heart, was released. The project was the result of months of work from talented musicians artists and organizers, and the release party raised over a thousand dollars in just a few hours!
The release party was just the beginning. It’s an ongoing fundraising effort. When you donate, you can download A Change of Heart, and all of Bronies for Good’s previous albums! Donate here, and you’ll be able to download this album, (and all past albums as well). Continue reading
Hay Tea – Alternate History VIP | Drum & Bass
Hay’s original version of this came out several months ago, but it’s always nice to hear revamped versions of already stellar tracks. It doesn’t differ hugely from the original, but as Hay Tea puts it himself, ‘New drums, new bass, new mix and better mastering’. Higher quality sounds are always appreciated.
PhonicB∞m – Pensive | Chillout
Phonic’s been experimenting a bit it seems – this chillout piece makes use of both ambient sound effects as part of the percussion and quirky wobbling bass sounds. An interesting hybrid of sounds that works surprisingly better than my less-than-apt description of them!
Ponytronic – Near Clear Skies (Plexitofer Remix) | Electro House
I never thought it possible to make electro house sound so chill, but Plexitofer does just that in this remix of Ponytronic’s Near Clear Skies (appropriate vibe for the song title, eh?). Nice clean drums and a great lead sound are what stand out in particular from this track for me.
Top Ten Pony Songs of January 2016!
The monthly community-voted top ten is back again, the first of the year. January’s results include 4everfreebrony, a show song remix, and a meme. So business as usual for the fandom it seems…
