Changelings, evil creatures feeding off emotions of others; morphed from birth, to deceive and hide in plain sight. And ALostCarolean, Swedish music producer debuting with the industrial horror sound of Darksynth, an unexpected subgenre in the fandom. The arpeggio synth approaches from the distance and hulking drums leap directly onto your face with a thick, heavily distorted bass line while dark synthwave melodies fly in the atmosphere and electronic metal rhythms escalates the energy. If you love the type of dark clubbing themes, you’ll feed on the darkness of this tune.

Cherax Destructor – The Rescue (Algo at All remix) | Chillout
The origin of the song The Rescue dates back to 2013, inspired by the shipfic Vinyl and Octavia: University Days. The song and the fic keep aging like fine wine and remain unforgettable. A refined fresh remix recently dropped by Algo at All with a feel straight to the heart to pound to the beat of this new sound. The glossy singing of Cherax attaches ingeniously well with the dreamy sound of the synths, the smoothness of the drums and fluid melodies, all elements dancing like butterflies in your stomach. If you ship Octavia with Vinyl, then ship this remix with your music folder!
MagicMakesItAllComplete – Unfix It Quick | Plunderphonics
I ADORE how OG MLP goes along with this. The nostalgia and the times of now get combined here to create a wonderful piece of music. This track itself is an EXPERIENCE. So many smooth, lovely, and chill vibes with BOTH top tier electronic sounds and yet the acoustic instruments mixed within add a touch of class. The vocal chops as well add unto making this track just… perfect, cute and wholesome. Let this track showcase that IT DOESN’T MATTER what generation of MLP the samples are from; they will remain TIMELESS, just like this track right here!
Awkward Marina – Anthropology (Marina’s 10-year Anniversary Version) | Pop/Electro Swing
Wow – believe it or not, it’s already been ten years since Awkward Marina’s legendary “Anthropology” came out, and to this day it still receives a lot of love (perhaps most notably via the BlackIceMusic Remix)! To mark the occasion, we have a renewed anniversary edition courtesy of Awkward Marina herself – so let’s get into the awesomeness!
The first thing you’ll notice is that the song received a whole new instrumental; we now have an upbeat pop melody with – you guessed it – lyre, guitar parts and some horse contributions later in the song as well, all of which create a fun departure from the predominantly piano-focused instrumental of the original! You’ll also be able to spot some slight changes to the lyrics, most obviously the increase in girl power as the names of Barack Obama and Micheal Phelps are changed to Lauren Faust (the beloved creator of Gen 4) and Lady Gaga (one of Awkward Marina’s musical inspirations). Additionally, Awkward Marina put in a bit of a fourth wall break, replacing the line, “Maybe humans like us, too, and dress like us at Comic Con,” with, “Maybe humans like us and write us our own fandom songs.” There are even more fun details to discover, but I’m not going to spoil it all – you’ll have to listen to it yourself (available soon on Spotify as well)!
Before I close this, I want to give a special thanks to Awkward Marina herself for being a big help in writing this article by explaining some of the details – this couldn’t have worked without her! Last but not least, a big thanks to theCANderson for helping me write an article that does this amazing song justice!
Celica Soldream – Frailty (Covering Princewhateverer) | Metal
MC-Arch – MuffinMan (Equestrian Pyscho) Prod. Tw3Lv3 | Hip-Hop
Do you know the muffin mare who lives in Ponyville? Do you know the brony rapper and loyal Fluttershy fan who vocalizes fiery rhymes on crystalline feelings and lionhearted songs? Then the time is now if you’re in appetite for a fancy sample with an ethereal beat cooked by Tw3Lv3 and a compelling message from MC-Arch. Relating the lyrics to Derpy who remains strong for an aspiring dream of a kind world and standing up for your friendships knowing that natural disadvantages are never reason to hold anyone down. This lyrical deliverance is a 5-star sweet treat by MC-Arch, the MuffinMan. Also be on the lookout for their third album “You got me, I got us” later this year!
The Wilders – Portrait Day (Acid Applejack Remix) | Happy Hardcore
The heartwarming sisterly bond ballad of Zipp and Pipp delivers a tranquil emotion to listen to. And then Acid Applejack drops a very contented remix using their talent for happy hardcore. A superb bonding of the sisters vocals with glittering rave sounds is a favorable tune to dance to! Your heart will easily smile big each time this remix pops up on your MLP G5 playlist.
[BP] SpinScissor – I Am Not So Hollow | Indie Electronic
SpinScissor is a blooming musician and singer that experiments through each release. I Am Not So Hollow, featured on the album Everfree Park: After Hours by the label Balloon Party, is a song with a sound out of this world. Remarkable glitchy pads and percussions, astronomical singing, a momentous guitar solo in the background and many wondrous elements in pure synergy is a natural essential listening with headphones.
