Vylet Pony’s third album of 2019 – Queen Of Misfits – recently came out on Christmas Day, and this is the title track as well as the closer. It features regular collaborator Namii on vocals alongside Cabi, another vocalist. All three of their voices shine brightly in this beautiful piece about the album’s concept of Trixie’s gender identity. The music features Vylet’s signature electronic style and compliments everyone’s voices and harmonies with flying colors. Pure bliss in audio form!
[Equinity] BassPon3 – Rainbow Skies | Techno
Track 21 from Equinity 02: Catalyst is BassPon3’s debut appearance on the Equinity project with Rainbow Skies, a bouncy techno song that feels like a journey with Rainbow Dash through the skies. The melodies, bouncy bass drums and trance-like synths all give the track a nostalgic feeling, especially towards the middle, when a filtered bass leads the track through followed by a glitzy music box track in the little breakdown afterwards. It’s like something from the early 2000s, but in a good way! Sit back and let the memories flow with this one.
Mane In Green – Rarity’s Dream | Orchestral
Mane In Green has blessed us with her fluff once again with this beautifully crafted piece about Rarity. The song showcases Green’s signature orchestral style while also capturing Rarity’s personality with flying colors. Elegant, dramatic and mellow, this track progresses in many different forms and moods as the sky also lightens and darkens now and again to fit with each progression. What a beautiful trip!
[Equinity] Niłch’i Poni – The Séance of Koma Kulshan | Deep Dubstep
One of the rising stars of pony music has brought us an elaborate and intricate track as part of the Equinity 02: Catalyst compilation album. The music is dominated by a great diversity of instruments and sounds, and sporadic wubs strewn across the track. The intro foreshadows what is to come by establishing sophisticated soundscapes. Then, accompanied by very interesting drums, sounds and a heavy bass we hear what appears to be a sword fight followed by pony vocal chops. Suddenly comes a wild piano interlude. Before the outro you will find a section made up of that loud bass from the beginning and unsettling hats rhythms fitting perfectly the eerie atmosphere of this incomparable track.
Silva Hound – Live From The Castle (feat. iBringDaLulz and 4everfreebrony) | Electro House
Now this is what you call a supergroup! The opening track from Silva Hound’s newly released album Equestrian Stories: The Prelude is Live From The Castle, a powerful electro house track with vocals from 4everfreebrony and iBringDaLulz. It opens with the a P.A. announcement from Vylet Pony speaking as a flight attendant with the occasional choir before jumping into a quick-fire bragadocious rap verse from iBringDaLulz, followed by Silva’s signature heavy house breakdown style. It honestly feels like something straight out of 2012, and we’re all the more better for it!
Suskii – Villains At The Door | Dubstep
Suskii’s rock streak seems to have taken a bit of a backseat at least temporarily, as he’s returned to the dubstep fold with a track from his upcoming EP, Face Down. The heaviness hasn’t gone anywhere though. Villains At The Door starts out with an ambient sample of some Grogar dialogue before building up to an intense dubstep track with a few more interjected samples, such as Cozy Glow yelling “back off” and laughing, plus what could be Suskii himself screaming alongside the powerful atonal synths and wubs that make up the core of the track. Be sure to look out for Face Down when it comes out!
[Equinity] MrMehster & Tw3Lv3 – Work In Progress | Hardstyle
We’ve got a huge banger here. The track doesn’t sound like it at first, and we may wonder how Tw3Lv3’s style and MrMehster’s will mesh together as they have few similarities. After the creative intro using hilarious voice clips, we are introduced to some super catchy 8-bit arps that will make up the main melody. Only then are we hit with the hardstyle part of the track. Watch out for your necks as this will get you headbanging hard for sure. During the second half the amen break like drum section has been played live and recorded by Tw3Lv3 himself. All in all, as they say, wow, this sure is no party breath. This is available alongside many other sick tunes on Equinity 02: Catalyst.
4everfreebrony – Chant of Selflessness (feat. MemJ0123 & Koron Korak) | Orchestral
The chant series that began six years ago is finally completed. The last three chants diverge a bit from the first half by being more energetic and giving more space to the instrumental. In particular, Chant of Selflessness has a different structure: instead of alternating choruses and verses this one starts off with the chorus, followed by all the verses, and then the chorus is repeated once more. The intro is still sung a cappella then both singers alternate responding to each other and singing in harmony. The piece definitely showcases MemJ0123‘s beautiful voice and voice acting talent and 4EverfreeBrony’s incredible vocal skills. The instrumental comprises a delightful piano and of course Koron Korak‘s stunning violin playing. All elements mesh together to form this perfect piece that will hopefully convince you to listen to the whole album.
7th Stive – Outrun | Synthwave
80s vibes for days! Synthwave is a rising genre in the fandom, and 7th Stive’s take on the genre sees a crossover between the 80s influenced genre with a more modern style of electro house, a combination that works really well. The melodies are beautiful and the modern synths along with the 80s pop drum samples mesh together like they were meant to be. What more could you ask for?
Elias Frost – Chrysalis Lullaby | Hybrid Orchestral
Elias Frost returns with yet another song from Stories Vol. III. Based on a Swedish lullaby by Bellmans Vaggvisa, Chrysalis Lullaby is a truly haunting and creepy piece about the queen of the hive herself. A haunting vocal piece makes up for the core sample, with the beginning flaunting some orchestral strings, a piano, some music box sounds and haunting ambience sounds before eventually building up as Frost’s music is known to do. The buildup sees the inclusion of an electric guitar, EDM drum hits on top of the vocalist’s creepy delivery. This album’s on the way to greatness!
