Track 8 on the freshly-released Ponies at Dawn: Eternal, and it’s about the Pony of Shadows. This one in particular was made by… Wait, Suskii? If you know the name by now, you’d probably come to expect some hard-hitting dubstep. Instead, he’s brought us some brutal metalcore, a crazy yet welcome change of pace. Suskii’s vocals switch between harsh screams and strong, harmonious clean singing seamlessly. Of course, no metalcore is complete without a breakdown, and this one’s heavy as can be, filled to the brim with low-tuned guitars, descending dissonant synths and raw guttural screams. I’m really liking the new Suskii sound!
Spikey Wikey – WAT18 | Hardcore
With such a crazy rhythm and brimming with all kinds of samples, WAT18 is such a fun treat from the recently released album Party’s Over! A successful experiment for sure, it blasts the full potential of sampling to make something rich, danceable, and approved by Dashie!
Viricide Filly – Yet Sightless | Album | Experimental / Dream House
In tandem with This Place Will Never Let Me Leave, Yet Sightless is the mane album and showcase of what Viricde has been up to, that we’ve been excited about for a while. And oh boy, was it worth the wait! Such incredible compositions are blowing us away and that from the start, as Eleanor’s story unfolds in musical form. Check out the full story from the description on Bandcamp! Experimental, refined, creative, and harmonious, the masterpieces are bringing such melodic bliss along the amazing basslines and vocals in pure Viricide Filly style, as we dive in atmospheres from unseen realms!
[P@D] Francis Vace – Silent (feat. PegasYs) | Ska Punk
The last of the Eternal pre-releases, and it’s a good one! Francis Vace teams up with his usual ska punk fare, with PegasYs joining him on vocals this time. While all the familiar elements of ska punk are recognisable in his sound, the track is laced with 8-bit sounding synths to complete the piece. With great references to Autumn Blaze and her all too familiar song that needs no introduction, this is a piece you can’t pass up. Eternal releases on October 6th!
Kallo Skull – Beauty Trapped in Chrysalis | Orchestral
Quite a powerful start for a channel debut, Kallo Skull’s Chrysalis-themed Orchestral beauty is bringing all the emotion of violins, in a grand progression featuring even choirs near the end. A lot of the character depth of our beloved antagonist is subtly expressed here, and that was definitely a most wonderful initiative! Here’s to a bright future of musical endeavors for Kallo!
[P@D] Soundnix – Antumbra | Dubstep
Enter Dubstep contestants! Soundnix brought his A-game with Antumbra, a piece about Luna and showcasing such refined sound design and crazy drops that make for such a delightful party track. Speaking of parties, the live release party of Ponies at Dawn Eternal draws near!! More details here.
Dizzy Inmotion – The Duel (feat. ForeverFreest) | Hip-Hop
The continuation to Dizzy’s story revolving around EQG Rainbow Rocks is here, and it unveils more of the many wonders that the concept album will have! Featuring ForeverFreest as Trixie and art by Niko, The Duel enacts another “battle of the words” between Sunset and Trixie, right before Sunset’s performance… Which is actually released now, check out The Sunset Shimmer Show! Also guess who’s the certain siren that Sunset met as well on her way to the stage… Adagio (Skit)!
Spikey Wikey – Ragga Muffin | Drum & Bass / Reggae
What happens when you blend DnB with Reggae influences, and then add Derpy to the mix? Unpredictable musical wonders! With only the finest musical tastes, Spikey Wikey delivers in style with this piece from the recently released Party’s Over that’s infused with our community pony mascot… And we are happy to hear her, even if she seems to be causing trouble again! I just don’t know what went wrong!
Whirlwind – In the mind of a Killer | Dark Ambient / Drone
Musical experiments in the dark must be so fun! Our awesome drummer friend Whirlwind gave it a try and golly, that is such an intense atmosphere! And along with those faded vocal samples, it really is spooky. Not to mention that only-slightly disturbing cover art! A very successful experiment for sure!
Rarity Advocate – Blossomforth | Soft Rock
After their piece about Rarity, Rarity Advocate’s back with another tribute to the background pony Blossomforth, and this one is much different! This track is a rather stripped down number, consisting of a guitar and bass, plus what sounds like a melodic bell. A clean guitar riff reminiscent of a midwest emo song from the 90s is the most prominent element and carries the song right up to the end. Ponies like Blossomforth need more love!
