[P@D] Blue Note & Wandering Artist – Ellipse | Orchestral

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 21 March 2018.

Blue Note, often appearing as half of A Symphony Of Two, and Wandering Artist, otherwise known as John Doe, creator of the Ponytown soundtrack, have teamed up together for a pretty awesome collab! Divided into two parts that represent the cycle of day and night, it’s a very classically oriented piece, and makes beautiful use of a variety of different orchestral instrumentation, and moves between uplifting energetic segments, and softer more thoughtful ones.

Lukas Vokrinek – A Lonely Teacup | Orchestral

Wondering what may have become of Trixie in a world without Starlight, Lukas Vokrinek brings us this soft piece of a magician reflecting on loneliness and self-pity. There is a well-established feeling of desperation in the piano composition which serves to carry the somber melody, while the string parts accentuate the notion of loneliness and agonizing emotion. The different parts build together towards the end to create a brighter, more energetic tone, which serves as a reminder of the cheerful reality that exists in the friendship of the two best mares. Beautifully haunting and charmingly optimistic, A Lonely Teacup is a gorgeous piece of emotional composition!

[P@D] Zephysonas & Lucas Gimeno – New Beginnings | Orchestral

Here is another great orchestral track off of the new Ponies at Dawn album! Combining the talents of two very talented composers, New Beginnings starts off with Lucas Gimeno’s pleasant piano composition with some light orchestral detail from Zephysonas gradually building around it. As the track continues, the dynamic grows much more intense and includes some great brass detail to round out the exciting middle, before ending with a soft, soothing piano once again. A great display of collaborative talent, make sure to check out this excellent instrumental!

[P@D] UndreamedPanic – Running Out Of Days (feat. Namii) | House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 20 March 2018.

UndreamedPanic’s house tunes are some of my favourite creations in the fandom, so it’s always awesome to see more of them from him. This one features some excellent vocals from Namii, which complement the superb vocal chopping that occurs throughout the track. Some powerful dance-y piano provides impetus to the piece, and the bright and uplifting synth design and composition wraps it all together nicely.

The Balefire Symphony – Red Eye | Orchestral / Rock

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 19 March 2018.

What an awesome orchestral track we’ve got from The Balefire Symphony here! It’s a heavy orchestral/rock hybrid track about Red Eye, an antagonist from Fallout Equestria. There’s a great mix of guitar and strings, plus some solid percussion backing it up.

[P@D] Totalspark – Acension | Drum & Bass

A gorgeous chilled out tune here from Totalspark! This piece is full of lovely soft synth sounds and reverberating bells that play some beautiful melodies as steady drum & bass percussion resonates throughout.

[P@D] Einarx – Conqueror | Dubstep

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 19 March 2018.

Einarx’s dubstep is always awesome, but especially so when combined with interesting compositional design. That’s the case here with some strong arabian influence to the whole track. The drop itself is full of a great mix of different sounds, and is arranged in a way that keeps things interesting, but also with the power indicative of Tempest Shadow.

[P@D] Protocat & Natus – Worthy (RoomVR Remix) | Liquid Drum & Bass

I simply ADORE this kind of Drum & Bass. RoomVR just consistently makes incredible liquid dnb tracks that are smooth, chill and quite frankly in my opinion, downright beautiful. Okay, I admit it probably helps that Protocat and Natus’ original version of this song was already stunning, but RoomVR has still manages to transform it while keeping the same emotion of the original. And it’s a great debut to Room’s own YouTube channel too! Another of my favourites from Rebirth, without a doubt.

[Cider Party EP] eksoka – The Way of Dawn | Uplifting Trance

Trance is my favorite genre, and uplifting trance is one of my favorite subgenres of trance. Add in a Starlight theme and brilliant composition, and I’m surprised my mouse button didn’t break from how fast I clicked download. This one’s truly breathtaking: cold, energetic, hypnotic, and rich. The progression of Starlight’s story is frozen in sound, from her time running Equal Town to Starswirl’s spell to her eventual reformation.
