More community voted Top 10 songs, and a good half of them came from Ponies At Dawn: Voyager, great job by the entire P@D collective. Anyway, take a look at which pony songs* made it into the top 10 this month.
*Oh, and Say by BlackGryph0n & Baasik is in there too for whatever reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Fire Frets serves us with an incredible cover here at the apple orchard for Applejack day, delivering an honest and masterful performance of 4everfreebrony’s original song Chasing Fate featuring Relative1Pitch. Every instrument played with much passion, the musical ride takes us through the emotional piano melodies, the beautiful violin performance from Relative1Pitch, wonderful new vocals, and blissful guitar play, to retell the moving story. The Apple family truly would be proud.
Ponyphonic is known for their timeless (relative to fandom lifespan) songs, and it’s about time we saw another! It’s been over a year since their last original pony song, and this certainly is a great way to make a comeback. With so many melodies and sounds being played by guitar and strings in this, you’d be surprised to hear that it’s all done using live instruments. That’s right, not a single orchestral VST in sight, something which I greatly admire when available and done properly! And with so much emotion poured into the song, it’s likely to draw up some feeling in you too.
A new song from the talented and genuine 4everfreebrony is always a big moment, and this new song is special in the way it conveys a very important positive message about life. Behind the soft guitar, gentle drums, moving piano and beautiful vocals, lies a powerful meaning about a simple truth that can hopefully remind to many how to find solace in a dark moment : just go to the nearest garden, smell a rose, and be happy in that present moment of appreciation. Incidentally, I listened to this song right after I was trying to cheer up a friend who was in depression, failing to see anything positive in this world anymore. So the line from the description “a song I wrote about remembering the beauty of our planet during hard and confusing times” was really striking at that moment. I’d wish people to feel content with life even while only having flowers to find happiness from. Living for a flower… for the beauty of Nature… yes, that sounds like quite a sufficient reason to live indeed! We may get blinded at times, but there’s always a new chance to get up and look at all the wonderful things around us in this life, and music is certainly one of them. Much love to you all who are reading this, stay safe! And Smell The Roses!
Yes, that’s a ponification of Man of Constant Sorrow. Yes I absolutely love that Steely’s done this. It’s a simple version, performed just with voice and acoustic guitar, like the version from the film O Brother, Where Art Thou? Keeping it simple sometimes works out for the best, and it certainly does so here.
The Wasteland Wailers over at Overmare Studios have released a new track! This time it’s a stripped down acoustic version of one of their previous pieces, Ms. Rarity. Featuring some really nice vocals from Yondy, and a really well performed bit of violin from Mike Williams as well as production from Haymaker, it’s definitely nice to hear an alternative version of this track. I think the acoustic nature of it really helps the vocals shine, and it’s definitely something worth checking out if you liked the original version!
4EverfreeBrony has brought on the feels in collaboration with lyricism from TrojanPony, and some beautiful piano work from Metajoker with this new wonderful piece of music. The instrumental is quite minimal, yet doesn’t feel empty at all, especially when that really nice flute sound comes in. The vocals and piano are the heroes of the track though, and both are performed perfectly. If you’re up for a moving track about Twilight losing her treehouse, make sure to check it out!
A pretty laid back, almost lullaby-like track, The Shake Ups in Ponyville has released another song from their album Rock Candy. With some wonderful soft and relaxing vocals, as well as some pretty nice acoustic guitar sounds, this is definitely a great track to help soothe yourself down for a bit of a nap. If that sounds like something you’d like to do, make sure to give it a listen!
DrDycer has returned with a new track of much beauty and sensitivity, paying tribute to Equestria’s most famous Night Mare. The powerful lyrics, along a very emotional vocal style, gives to this acoustic guitar-powered song the depth to musically retell the story for all the future generations to witness.
Shipping time! A slight change of direction from Aurelleah’s usual music, and a welcome return to hearing some of his vocals. But of course, a love song is even better as a duet, so Wubcake takes the part of Marble Pie as her and Big Mac reminisce over meeting. How cute.
