A mellow song with dark and haunting lyrics about Luna and her self-doubt, taken from Luna Jax’s recent album Somnia Equorum. Simple percussion and beautiful harmonies layer on top of this song and make this beautiful piece complete.
Acoustic
ismBoF – Gimme RD (Acoustic Version) | Acoustic
To mark 5 years since the release of the original, ismBoF (finally) released their acoustic rendition of their classic metalcore song Gimme RD. This wonderfully mellow version is perhaps even more skillful than the original, it takes a lot of work to make a purely acoustic track sound as good as this one does!
Crusader! – Party of Two | Acoustic Rock
Let’s end the day on an uplifting little love song from Crusader! This song tells the story of a pony whose life was completely turned around by Pinkie Pie. It features Crusader’s signature acousticy pop-rock sound based largely around acoustic instruments, with some electric rhythm guitar and even a harmonica thrown in for good measure.
The L-Train presents the Royal Canterlot Symphonic Metal Orchestra – Fall of an Empire | Symphonic Metal
After 18 months in the making, and marking the longest and biggest project he’s ever created, The L-Train proudly presents to us Fall of an Empire, an opera by the Royal Canterlot Symphonic Metal Orchestra. His second symphonic rock opera, following Moonrise from early 2014, this 50-minute epic tells the rise and fall of King Sombra, and features contributions from dozens of talented artists from the fandom. Take a seat, put on your best headphones, and prepare for a musical journey unlike any other. Full album opera writeup after the break.
Crusader! – Second Chance | Acoustic
Sometimes, all you need to make music is an acoustic guitar and your own voice…okay, a mic and recording software also help but that’s besides the point! This new song from Crusader! is a little tribute to last week’s episode, No Second Prances, and it’s just as pleasant to listen to as I would have expected!
Rusty Thorsell – Porcelain | Acoustic(?)
Rusty here seems to be good at making percussion out of household objects; this sounds you hear in this song were made primarily from a teacup, a mandolin and rubber bands. I don’t quite know what to call it, hence the “Acoustic(?)” label, but I’m enjoying the well-programmed percussion in this. Nice job Rusty!
Redd Pony – Sweet Serenity | Acoustic
A bittersweet song from Redd to start the day, and it is pretty amazing. I do sometimes wonder if Redd will ever get back into EDM, but I’d be perfectly happy if he kept making songs like this.
SlightlyAmiss – Melodies | Acoustic
When you compose a track in tribute to a pony, the feelings you have make it heartfelt and add yet another layer of appreciation to the music, and this time we’ve got yet another one, the fact that the musician can relate to the character in some way! Enjoy this lovely ballad made for Octavia and immerse yourself into her world.
Vocal Score – Out On My Own | Acoustic
Vocal Score gives us a wonderfully stripped back and natural performance here in this cover of Out On My Own, complete with fantastically mixed harmonies. I always love hearing well-made acoustic pieces, it shows that you don’t need a full band or innovative sound design – sometimes a voice and a guitar is all it takes. Great job Vocal Score!
Luna Jax – Applebloom’s Prayer | Acoustic
Prepare yourself for feels. Luna Jax gives us a song from Applebloom’s perspective where she ponders what everyone has told her about her parents. Horse Music Herald does not take responsibility for any tears shed, no matter how manly.
