Rusty – Imposter Syndrome | Electro Swing

Rusty is at it again! This song tells us about his realization of developing what is known as “Imposter Syndrome”; which is where you feel that anything good in your life, whether it be your actions or things you just find good in general, are all due to manipulation, luck, or someone else’s work. Rusty does a great job at telling this tale with infectious and emotional vocal work, that I don’t hear very often and there are plenty of developments through out to keep you coming back for more. Electro Swing is hard to do right. The melody and groove in this gives off such a great vibe and the creative ways that Rusty went about producing this, is just incredible! You do not want to pass this one up!

[P@D] DJT & R3CTIFIER – Exiled (feat. N. Hollow) | Trap

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 14 March 2018.

DJT and R3CTIFIER always produce awesome stuff when they collaborate, though this one’s a bit different to their previous collaborations. Featuring some excellent rapping from N. Hollow, this trap tune packs a lot of a punch, with clean and aggressive sound design helping to showcase the desolate nature of the Fallout Equestria world.

Daniel Ingram – Stop the Bats (Toby Macarony Remix) | Electronic

Toby Macarony’s newest release is a fantastic remix of Stop the Bats. With sizzling wubs and glorious voice-distortion on the mane 6’s chorus, he adds a new layer of haunting to this already-spooky song.

Vylet Pony – Hold on Before I Forget | Indie Pop

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 March 2018.

Vylet’s gentle works from his Tales From Equestria album continue, and this one has a pretty strong focus on his vocals. They come across pretty emotional and sultry here, with some great use of reverb in the instrumental to add some heavy feeling to it. The backing vocals also add another layer of depth.

[P@D] loophoof – 478,000 Miles (Shining Forth) | Electro House

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 12 March 2018.

loophoof’s works always fill me with joy, because he just pours so much pony into them in just the right ways. He’s taken that to a new level here with an epic 8 minute track that details the story of Luna’s banishment to the moon and eventual return and redemption, full of vocal chops, voice clips from the show and some terrific composition. The name of the song is quite clever too – referencing the distance to the moon and back. And it’s all wrapped up here with an awesome PMV that swaps between images showing what part of the story it’s up to, and clips of the show that match the vocals in the song.

Brohoof Studios – The Acre Bounce | Melbourne Bounce

Brohoof Studios is a musician I’ve had the pleasure of watching (from a distance) grow from a total newbie into a master of wubs. The Acre Bounce new song of his is on Onward, a channel for publishing brand new pony music from the new generation of brony musicians. This song is super high-energy, wubbly, and danceable, with some wonderful vocal clips and chops. It reminds me of another energetic song–Nettohunden’s classic Get My Rope. If you haven’t listened to any of Brohoof Studios’ stuff in a while, give this one a go!

TCB – The Princess of Friendship | House

I’m back from hiatus, and what a song to come back to! Here we have some uplifting, feel-good house themed around Twilight! It’s very cheery and happy–some of the best and happiest house I’ve ever heard. It’s true some days are dark and lonely, and maybe you feel sad, but this song will be there to show you that it isn’t that bad!

Exiark & FritzyBeat – Behind | Indie Dance

NB: This was originally posted on Equestria Daily on 11 March 2018.

The release of Exiark’s recent album Otherworldly Journey was something I was super excited to hear, and this track in collaboration with FritzyBeat is definitely one of the more upbeat releases from it. Featuring some lovely pop-y production, it fits Fritzy’s terrific vocals very well, and the use of vocal chops from some old Feather music is also a lovely touch.

[P@D] PegasYs – Trixie Cannon | Neurofunk / Trap

PegasYs’ talent across all aspects of music production never fails to amaze me, so it’s no surprise that his latest P@D contribution is just as fantastic as always. The blend of trap elements and neuro basses, all applied into the double harmonic major scale to give it that Middle Eastern vibe is perfect. Pega’s actually about to start focusing more on his professional alias, Elysen, and you can find his new channel over here which will feature not just music, but tutorials and videos exploring music theory and other neat stuff. So thanks for the pony music Pega, it’s been a blast…

F.I.T.B.’s song from the new Ponies At Dawn album follows their signature style of midtempo-ish beats with deep modulated basses and some fantastic vocal chops. Be sure to check this out alongside the rest of Rebirth if you haven’t done so already!
