Shika No Mori Sound – Beauty In The Trees | Album | Multi-Genre


It’s time for a new collaborative album from the community, everypony!! And this one certainly delights and holds many surprises! Living up to its lovely title, the album from collaborative effort Shika No Mori Sound (“Forest of Deer”) delivers tracks of pure beauty and power, featuring musicians from all around the community, including familiar names but also some you might not have heard of. What they all have in common is that they did amazing to bring this concept justice and produce a mighty album as beautiful as a forest!

Starting off with the very headbangable Venality from R3ctifier centered around the events of Friendship Games, the first half of the album hits as hard and powerfully as witnessing the many wonders of Nature would feel, with very enthralling tracks such as Aven‘s Purpose (#4), the dark and heavy Worlds from Flak (#14), the insane Dustep madness of IKX in Two Faced (#12), even bringing all the Hardcore with track #7. And this goes not without mentioning the cute yet powerful mellow interlude of Kawaii Dash‘s Bubble Tea (#6) that surprises with a mighty sound design and Future mood!

The second half of the album further embodies the gentle, invigorating and emotional beauty that Nature can grant to those who open their soul to it, with chill-ish songs that matches the concept in the most wonderful ways. Starting with Fallen Empire from emotional Chillout master Totalspark (#15), we then get entranced by the mighty groove and originality from Waifu Avenue‘s 16 Under 20 (#17), dive into the amazing depths of Ax:l‘s Bröadcast (#18), wander through DisCHORD‘s Wilderness with both awe and energy (#19), inger in bliss as the Drum & Bass of Progressive Element‘s Crystal Fragments stimulate our ears and soul (#20), get hit so hard with the amazing soundscapes of Chillout masterpiece Dreamscapes from Totalspark (#21, his second contribution to the album and my personal favorite from the album), to end with the much welcome piece from Vinyl Darkscratch Snipershy’s Ballad (#22) and Shü77erfly‘s melodic Atmosphere that warms the heart and soul (#23).

Enter MintFritter, a pony musician that went under my radar for a while, but who is definitely very promising! Through The Space is a very cute song that delightfully shows the great potential from the artist, as cuddly instrumental and vocals unfold to pay tribute to Derpy and Dr Whooves in the most mellow ways. 5OUND (ANU) – Frozen Dreams | Chillstep

Be ready for a blissful experience of utter beauty as 5OUND’s latest track unfolds. Despite the presence of Fluttershy’s cutie mark in the visuals, you might still get a lovely surprise at some point during the track, as Fluttersamples are used in such a wonderful way, along a 9-minutes instrumental of much originality. Give a well-deserved sub to 5OUND who will soon change their name to ANU, I’m going through the whole channel right now and the music all around is quite enthralling and well composed!

Nicolas Dominique – Secluded Glen | Chillout

Acting like the perfect musical embodiment of Secluded Glen from Shamanguli, this new Chillout piece from Nicolas Dominique calls for Exploration and gazing at the many wonders around us as we’ve made our way to a rare landscape that only the most audacious ponies will uncover. We’ve certainly seen how Rarity’s special gift could lead her to life-changing discoveries in The Cutie Mark Chronicles for instance, so it is no surprise to have her as the protagonist of that sensory adventure now brought to you with the power of music. Take a step in, explore, and reflect as the sounds guide you to undiscovered places!

Silva Hound – Egomania (feat. BlackGryph0n) (Vylet Pony Remix) | Trap

What happens when one of the most talented and promising pony musicians in the community remixes a collab track between renowed producer Silva Hound and amazing singer and community legend BlackGryph0n? Fire! Vylet Pony brings out all the skill and mad inspiration by taking on the mighty challenge of remixing the Rainbow Dash-centered colossus track, resulting in a crazy piece that is crazy good. Remix EP is on its way!

Better late than never, eh? NB: A small part of this review was also written by Spectra.

Hey kiddos, it’s Reverie, and while I’m busy being sad and hating myself that I haven’t been working on the Top Ten listings that much due to school and graduation and all that, I’ve written a comprehensive review, going track by track through ALL of the new Vylet release, entitled Super Pony World. Since we don’t want to exclude some of the deluxe version material, this is going to cover all of the base tracks plus a couple of the original pieces from the deluxe version. Filly in the Box -Don’t Go Alone | Dubstep

Attention: mild spoilers, nothing obvious though.

Back once again with impeccable sound design, Filly in the box has a new track inspired by the latest episode of MLP. The drum samples and programming (and even some of the melodies) reminds me a lot of the early mainstream dubstep that came about at the end of the 00s, whilst the bass sounds used sound very much modern – an interesting juxtaposition of sounds that works incredibly well!

Master of Drum & Bass Hay Tea presents a new release, featuring art from the ever-so-talented Shamanguli. This powerful and definitely much welcomed track displays all the charm of Drum & Bass for us to dive in a deep moment of appreciation and reflection, much to the spirit of the cover art.

Butterflight – Missing You | Chillout

Missing You from Butterflight is a culmination of much effort and feelings, and it can definitely be felt through this Chillout instrumental track of much beauty. A steady flow of blissful notes and melodies completes soothing background synths, for a flawless result. Be sure to give the lad a sub!

Drixale – Bien Fuerte | House

Pacific Glow from The Saddle Row Review continues to inspire in the most unique and delightful ways, and now it is Drixale’s time to bring fire to the dance floor from the DJ booth, with a new original track aptly named Bien Fuerte (“So Strong”, from what I could gather). A distinct musical mood can be felt with this song much to the style of Drixale, as we can fully immerse ourselves in the deep and dark vibes from the instrumental, straight from the back-alley underground, zip-zap party scene!
