Maressey has a new release featuring terrific vocals from Francis Vace, with an instrumental provided by Zatslol and Freewave. It’s another pretty sombre track, this time about Berry Punch, and I especially enjoy the variance in the vocal style.
Maressey present us another tribute to The Smiths’ music in pony form, and this one should prove to be a very relatable track for many musicians who aim at the top! Genuine and beautiful guitar play, blissful bass and drums, and honest vocals all bring to this track that lovely Indie Rock vibe, and convey well the theme!
A new track from Maressey, I Want The One I Can’t Have features vocals from Zatslol and a strong instrumental from Johnny Mare. Whilst this kind of thing is always a bit of a touchy subject, I feel like this track approaches the subject matter pretty tastefully and with great production value, Zatslol’s vocals especially shine strongly in this track.
A rather different style of cover now – something which might be a bit hit or miss but still probably worth sharing. The latest release on A Little Bit for Charity’s YouTube channel, this cover of The Magic Inside has a rather unique vocal style, with very gentle accompanying instruments and almost a Christmas music vibe to it, since it’s filled with lots of percussive bells. Check it out if that sounds like your kind of thing.
One of the coolest fandom music projects is back! Maressey is an ambitious project that aims to produce high quality pony-focused tributes to The Smiths. They’ve just released their 4th album, The Brony Album, which focuses on a lot of fandom related things, such as EQD, Bronycon, Rule 34 and Cosplay. This track, featuring amazing vocals from AdamTh3Walker, a strong instrumental from Johnny Mare and mixing from project-head Freewave, deals with the after effects of the eventual ending on the show, whenever it may be. Make sure to check it out for a really strongly produced track about a poignant topic of conversation.
This is another new track released from the ‘A Little Bit For Charity’ project, and it’s always awesome to hear the unique ways that the professional indie artists enlisted by the project manage to turn the show songs into a style of their own. This time around a group called Superturtle have given their take on the song Light Of Your Cutie Mark. Make sure to check it out below if indie style rock beats are your thing! This one definitely has a bit more of an old school vibe to it.
Back after a bit of a period away from releasing stuff, Donn DeVore returns with a pretty cool track about Treehugger. Starting innocuously enough with a pretty fast drum beat, the vocals that make the track soon come in with some pretty great lyricism too. The combination of indie-style vocals and a fusion of rock and electronic instrumentals behind them makes for the kind of thing I haven’t heard much of recently in the fandom, and it’s well worth taking a listen to!
Rejoice everypony, The Wonderbolts are BACK with a new song, and this one is ready to ROCK the concert hall! A mighty ponification of Threshold from the fictional band Sex Bob-Omb, it pays tribute to The Rainbooms in much rock spirit, bringing those delightful Garage/Indie/Punk Rock vibes, in an amazing performance and along a very fitting music video made by the band’s drummer, Wootmaster. This is making you want to cheer for the band with a hoof in the air at the gig, or salute the members as you luckily spot them coming out of the garage rehearsal room and carrying their instruments in their cases! Show your support to The Wonderbolts, because this pony band is awesome, and keep rocking!
Direct Current’s new release sure is emotional on many levels, and it is with much emotion that I’m writing this right now, re-listening to that track. Heavenly piano, incredible use of vocal samples, genuine vocals and heartfelt theme all make this track a shining beauty, also acting as a powerful tribute to SoGreatandPowerful’s music.
Here’s a short tune from Atmosphery Pony. There’s some cool guitar work in the background but it’s the vocals that really carry the track which despite its length is nicely paced with an organic rhythm.
