Now this is special. The energy and emotions Vylet conveys is absolutely stunning and the syncopated rhythm and retro-esque feel really brings some life to this story. It opens on a very soothing note and boy, does it ever grow on you in an unexpected way! This song in particular is actually one that was commissioned by Draco Schaeffer, and tells a story of Brash and Golden’s relationship “in an age and universe where Equestria’s sewers are just as colourful as the streets” which personally I think is a very interesting concept for a story and its world. I’m really impressed in how this commission turned out and am very curious to see what else is brought to the table!
Misc
[P@D] Einarx – Guardian (Reprise) | Eastern Folk
From the Ponies at Dawn charity album, Recollections, Einarx has given us a reprise of Guardian. Unlike their VIP of the song back in 2017, this takes everything from before and flips it on its head! All in all we’ve been given a very soothing turn from the hard hitters of yesteryear, with a heavily ethnic feel mixed with subtle electronic elements and a foreboding atmosphere that will instantly take you on an ethereal journey from the Far-East!
Radiarc – What Was | Alternative / Jazz
“Something went very wrong here” Melancholy is thick in the air here and an unsettling mysterious melody takes us on a journey through a metropolis abandoned by civilization, yet, teeming with life. This piece will envelop you with emotion and intricate detail and will leave a lingering question in your mind. “Where did everything go wrong?”
Quicksilver – Falling Out | Pop Punk
Our beloved Quicksilver went all-out for his birthday and parties hard the musician way, by releasing a rocking and catchy tune on the same day! This one is themed around S06E24 Top Bolt, and the relationship between Vapor Trail and Sky Stinger! Always such a bliss to get such pony feelings expressed along the power of rock music, by a passionate fellow fan!
Ardeleiz – A Kirin Kind of Christmas (feat. Koron Korak & Maritina) | Acoustic
A very lovely collaboration from The Seapony Orchestra’s compilation album Hearthwarming, this soft Acoustic track is transcribing the atmosphere of a Hearth’s Warming eve at the kirins’ village so well. With a guest violin performance by Koron Korak and flute performance by Maritina, the cute song is doing wonders bringing that kirin spirit!
ZD & Kozmos – A Manehattan Story (prod. Steryotype) | Hip-Hop
A story from two ponies points of view. One tells of the wonder and excitement of exploring a city full of lights and music. The other outlines the struggles of living the day-to-day life in a city full of crime and sadness. The difference in rapping styles and the contrast in accents matches perfectly with the two takes on the same tale.
Kozmos and ZD are the talents behind the vocals, while Steryotype produced the beat. This combination is definitely one I would be happy to see used again in the future.
Frozen Night – Winter Dream | Soundtrack / Ambient
Frozen Night has always excelled when it comes to atmospheric pieces and soundscape design. Winter Dream was written for an action-adventure story game to introduce the player into a post-apocalyptic world. The sound design is beautifully arranged and full, while evoking such vivid emptiness with its sounds of distant high voices, light bells, and atmospheric synths – a testament to the tremendous skill of Frozen Night!
Remember Falling – Alone | Chillout
Remember Falling is back again , this time with a sadder theme. As we have seen in some of RFs previous work, this piece carries a lot of personal emotion, while still being able to fit in with the story of a show character. A calm piano melody mixed with smooth, bemoan vocals creates an eerie atmosphere. The lyrics themselves outline some of the struggles met by those who constantly feel alone.
Mane in Green – Petit Papillon | Orchestral
This gorgeous piece from Mane in Green tells the story of our resident animal whisperer Fluttershy befriending a butterfly. The tune has some excellent use of strings and piano in particular, and it wonderfully depicts the peril Fluttershy and her little friend encounter on their aforementioned adventures before resolving into satisfying peace. A whole symphony of emotions, in four and a half minutes!
BlueBrony – Cold Nights, Warm Hearts | Orchestral
You never know what you are going to get with BlueBrony, but you can always count on him delivering something awesome! Cold Nights, Warm Hearts is an ode to “The Hearth’s Warming Club”, specifically Gallus’ role in the episode. The song is centered around the piano composition and starts out slowly and somber, before growing into an optimistic tune. The violin brightens up the emotion of the track while the sounds of a fire burning give the tune a homely feeling, invoking the imagery of the six, young students keeping each other in good company during the holidays.
