Shall we turn out the lights? A Night With A Siren is a slow, sensual jazzy piece that feels like the ideal soundtrack for spending the night with your siren of choice. Accompanying the track is a visual of Adagio Dazzle slowly swaying in a dark room as a green fog surrounds her, almost as if it’s a byproduct of her siren allure. It’s not too often we see jazz in the fandom!
Misc
ShobieShy – Glim Shady | Hip-Hop
You might be disappointed if you were expecting a The Real Slim Shady parody, but that doesn’t mean this isn’t something worth listening to. Glim Shady is smooth hip-hop tune that showcases ShobieShy’s razor-sharp flow with light-hearted digs at other rappers in the fandom. What’s a little fun beef between a tight-knit community?
Vylet Pony – Queen of Misfits (feat. Cabi and Namii) (Remember Falling Remix) | Alternate Electronic
A long one, this track. Remember Falling has released an 8 minute long remix of Vylet Pony‘s Queen of Misfits, and it’s honestly super beautiful. The track is absolutely dripping of reverb and full of astonishing instrumentation and synth work, trading the 80s-inspired sound of the original for a more modern sounding electronic style. The vocalist’s voices are still present here, and are sprinkled with different effects at certain points, like a vocoder or bitcrusher. The most emotional part has to be when Vylet and Namii sing together accompanied by just a piano before the electro synths jump back in. Hats off to Remember Falling for crafting such an amazing remix!
Night Blaze – This Is Our Home | Soundtrack
There’s a reason people always say home is where the heart is, as this piece should tell you. After a few setbacks, it’s finally here. This Is Our Home serves as an interpretation to the show’s ending, harbouring a positive and light mood as if to say the evils that shrouded Equestria are finally gone and everypony can live in peace. Can’t go wrong with such a serene conclusion!
Koa – Silent (Covering Francis Vace) | Piano Ballad
How about a change of pace? Koa’s cover of Francis Vace and PegasYs‘ Silent is a much softer rendition of the original, serving as a ballad. Gone are the catchy and quick-paced drums and chiptune synth sounds; all we have here is Koa’s voice accompanied by a piano. Despite this stripped down arrangement, it all feels so full and somber, giving it a brand new atmosphere!
Ocean Melody – Clash of Fire and Smoke | Soundtrack
A tale of two quarrelling princesses… Clash of Fire and Smoke is another one of Ocean Melody’s great orchestral pieces that serves to tell a story. From the bells to the strings, wind instruments to the brass, it sounds like it came straight from an RPG game. Maybe one that could be centered around Celestia and Luna’s conflict? It’s also slated to be a part of Ocean’s upcoming album titled Tales of Sun and Moon, so keep an eye out for when that eventually comes out!
Frozen Night – Hope Eternal | Orchestral / Soundtrack
My fellow bronies, lend me your attention for just a moment. We have a real honest to Celestia pony inspired video game with a seriously awesome OST! It’s called Ambient.White, check it out Here. The music however is full of exciting energy. The same energy that good video game music, does to get you to feel invested into the game itself. Frozen Night composes the main theme of this game about two alicorn sisters (Astrum and Krinita) on a dangerous journey for their lives hiding in enemy lands. This Orchestral theme sets that tone very well. from the start. The music pulls you in with a sense of wonder, danger and excitement. This music gives me a Dust: An Elysian Tail vibe seriously. As always, This Qilin asks you judge for yourself.
YeahButThenDragons – Find the Music In You (Covering Daniel Ingram) | Acapella
This catchy song made famous by the PonyTones has been reimagined by YeahButThenDragons and her brother with just their voices alone! Their arrangement makes it seem like a fully live rendition done by a full acapella ensemble, just from the addition of body percussion and plentiful harmonies. Daniel Ingram would be proud.
Vylet Pony – Magic B**ch (feat. Silva Hound, Chi-Chi & Namii) | R&B / Hip-Hop
Maressey – The Twiluna Album | Album | Jangle Pop
After a long 3 year wait, Maressey have delivered their fourth and final album, The Twiluna Album! As we’ve come to expect, Maressey is a tribute act that focuses on ponified versions of songs performed by The Smiths, a British indie pop/rock band that were around in the 80s. Freewave leads the Maressey project and has brought a large amount of guests on board to help with the music and vocals, such as FritzyBeat, Faux Snyder, Fire Frets and Sylverlining. Snyder’s vocal talents in particular are to be noted, and can be heard across songs such as Bigmouth Strikes Again, Luna in a Coma and Well I Wonder; her higher voice makes for a nice contrast in place of Morrissey’s deeper baritone range. Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want showcases Zatslol‘s vocal work, which is also noteworthy for featuring a striking resemblance to Morrissey’s own voice. Standout tracks include Some Mares…, Luna in a Coma and Back to the Old House, which stand as very faithful renditions to their original tracks.
